Just joined here. was wanderin if anyone has info on igt gold mountain 25cent slot/ 3 reel. jut got and recent owner said coin comp not working. I have extensive electronic training and was curios if someone had schems or info on this slot. Possible manuf date around late 80's/early 90's. did notice the red led is not lite on coin comp as well. Label on cc says coin mechanisms inc. possible mod# CC-16-D-VAC-R1  and manuf date 09/90.  Very new at this and not sure what site(s) to even start looking fer a coin comp or info. Thanks to all with any help.

You need a CC16D inhibit 24 volt comparator.  If you post a WTB, many dealers here carry that as it is a common part.

We would need to know what the machine is doing or not doing. Coin comparitors are part of the coin in equipment, but not ALL of it, and truthfully, the coin comparitor itself is many times NOT the issue. Are coins dropping through? An error code in the display?

You need the coin comparitor with the gray wire, a 13v.

Based on date of manufacture, it's an S+ so he needs 24v.

To post a picture, just attach it, but you must bit reply to see option, and not use quick post box.  Or modify one of your previous posts and you will get the attach option.

Sorry, right color, wrong voltage...

Very new at this and not sure what site(s) to even start looking fer a coin comp or info.

This IS the site...We have more repair info here on IGT slots than any other site out there, by far.

the file size i have tried to send are roughly 4meg in size and keep gitin error that post cant be sent. I guess it is probably somthin i am doin wrong. The igt mach will powerup and bill selector goes thru its motions as well, but their a key switch above slot handle on right side that will work once inawhile  and the credit led will change numbers on. But machine will not accespt bills when locked back shut. I hope this explains a little better to yall what issue is. Thanks fer the help.

you need to resize photos to no more than 1024x768 to be safe.  There's a filesize limit.  The key switch on the side of the slot is to reset jackpots and for attendants to look over the previous spins to make sure there's nothing fishy when paying large jackpots.  It is also use during the setup process to change some values.  Not used during normal gameplay.  If the machine doesn't do anything when you close the door, like the insert coins window lighting up for example, then there maybe something wrong with your door optics that tell the machine the door has been closed.

tell us where the board is mounted, left side, or in the back.  board is on a removable tray made out of aluminum has a black knob in the center for ease of removal.   if you have an older type, the board would be mounted in the rear and has three cables going to it, two on the top and one on the side. (gold mountain is a Double diamond clone,so it could be a "S" model)

the red LED will only come on when the door is shut and the game is ready to play.  are there any numbers in the displays?

you need a CC-16D  24vac  grey wires going to the coil on the rear.  you do not need an inhibit feature.

Hope this helps

Jim

Since there's a reference to the wire color.  I have 2 different CC-16D's  One came out of my WMS 550 slot which is a 12volt inhibit unit, but it had grey wires. I have one that was on my S+ before I switched it to dollar tokens, and it has green wire.  The wires lead to some sort of electromagnet that operates the rake that sends out the coin to the reject pile.  My question is, can I just swap that assemblies so that I have grey wires for the S+ comparator and green ones for the WMS?  I don't know if that particular part of the comparator uses the same voltage for all CC16's.  I have heard that some techs swap these things around to get them working, but I have not actually tried it.

I have never mixed them, I will try it and let you know what happens,    I will also check the resistance if the coils,   The operational voltage should play  into the operation as well.  I am sure the reason they color coded the coils was for that very purpose.

The way I had the inhibit function explained to me: in the S+, the CC-16 is always on when the door is closed, the only time it is off is when the max coin limit has been reached.  On machines with the inhibit feature,  Sigma comes to mind ,  the CC 16 is on, however that coil is turned off by the inhibit feature. when the inhibit signal is removed the coil can operate and accept coins.

Hope the pics have helped. and thanks again to all fer the past info/post. 2)
Was lookin on cvslots site and noticed there were eror codes explained on there. I assume codes would come up in credit area on door?  I have no red numbers lite on door area. Hope this has helped. Thanks again.

You definitely have an S+, late model.  It has either a DBV-145 or a DBV200 acceptor.  What does the machine do when you power it up.  You also need to put a coin in the comparitor for it to work.

Rick, have 24 vac at yel/blk  on plug that goes to comparitor. I have quarter in comp but there is no red led light on comp. The machine after openin/closin mult times will light up one of lines in top left of door red leds. Every once in  awhile after shuttin/openin door this will happen. when this happens I use the jackpot key above slot handle and it will go thru countin up from 1to9 and will show all 9's on payline/credits. I git off track. response to reply is basically all lights non-functionin will light up, back drop lites i will call them. but no other lights or leds will light up. When the machine allows me to use jackpot key the coin hopper will actually engage, but only when red leds are light on door. But like i said erlier ths only happens after mult times shuttin/opennin door. Also I tested voltage on door optics(near door key/right side) and was unable to git any voltage from door side or machine side, ac or dc. I hope this has helped and am greatly thankful fer the help. any add pics yall may need I am able to post now after reducin pixels. thanks again.

pull out the hopper and pull up the cpu tray in the back and look at the mpu board for signs of damage, like a leaked battery or bad caps.  Do the reels stiffen when you power on the machine?

Clap You must be an expert on these. Pulled hopper out and pulled motherbord out. Low and behold BT1 battery is leakin and has coroded off one side of the board. I will read up on info from schem and see what type/size BT1 battery is. approx 3/4 to 1 inch long. after postin these two pics of board I will chek and see if reels tighten once power is on. maybe poss to git volt info off batt once removed from board. thanks again fer the help on here.

They are 1/2AA size 3.6Volt lithium.  These will work.

http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Tadiran-Batteries/TL5902-T/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMtLoaml0iHoQ%2f%2fIdmmZouk5BVI%252bEL5cQso%3d

You might also consider getting a spare MPU board while you can still get one for a reasonable price.  These machines are close to 20 years old and parts are only going to dry up.

I have quarter in comp but there is no red led light on comp.

In your picture, there isn't a quarter seated properly in the comparator, for what it's worth.

As far as the red light, that light only comes on when the door is closed.  You'll typically never see the light on a comparator on in an S+ machine unless you've rigged up the door optics so that the machine thinks that the door is closed when it's still open.

Thanks fer info on cc. Was wanderin if the door optics have a small or large voltage on one side or no voltage at all. Also I would think there is away to bypass optics in door when tryin to service. The pic was takin of cc before placin qtr back in cc. I was also unsure if it matters if it shows head/tails from inside door. I am thinkin it is only relative to size of coin. I am also in proc of gitin a 3.6 v batt fer mpu board. Removed ole batt and cleaned with vinager/water mix and let air dry. Will also be orderin a spare mpu board per other mod on forum. Was also wanderin if anyone knows which states it is illegal to posess a slot. Thanks again fer the quik reply and all the help.

- I'm not an expert on the optics as far as voltage or whatnot, so hopefully someone will chime in with info about them.

- Yes, the optics can be bypassed, but I'm not a big fan of doing so -- some SP chips won't allow you to get past a 61 error with bypassed door optics

- No, the coin side facing towards you in the comparator doesn't matter -- it's taking a sample of the metallic content of the coin.  It just needs to be seated properly in its place.

- Here's a list of state slot ownership laws: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_state_slot_machine_ownership_regulations
