I am trying to clear an error 21 on my S+. I checked the cash can door and noticed there weren't any wires. The DBV gets power but no door optics in place. Are they needed or can they be bypassed?

Thanks

The DBV cash can door on the  S+ does not use optics, it's just a simple switch.  Most people remove the switch and just jump the two wires together.

Error 21 is coin-in error.  Are you sure your coin-optics are working right?

Oops I didn't mean optics.  But yes there are no wires going to the switch on the door.  I did notice that the two wires to the right hand side were twisted together with a wire connector cap.

I tested the coin comparitor through the 10 then 34 test and the light came on the coin comparitor.  Maybe it is the coin optics.  I will check. Thanks

PS. I noticed that the divertor (I think that's what it is called) does not move when a coin is dropped through. Could that be from the optics?

You can test the diverter with I/O tests.  I would replace the optics before I did anything else.  That is what usually goes bad.  Clean them first, sometimes that fixes the issue.  You need to also make sure that on the encoder the light path from the emitter to receiver is not blocked  by gunk or something.

Thanks Rick. I did clean them off if no such luck. I will order new optics and try that.

Thanks for your help!
