Hi All,  I have an IGT Haywire Slot, I believe it is an S+ but I can't find a manufacturer's panel anywhere, but it does have a Bill Validator.  I had it shut off for a few months, when I turned it on it showed an Error 12 (Low Battery), I ordered and replaced the battery, tested the voltage on old battery, 0 V, new battery 3.6 V.  When I plugged the board back in the Error 12 did not clear or change to an Error 61.  I have tried every reset sequence that I could find online, but nothing will clear the Error 12.  The candlestick lights flash - top slow, bottom fast, I can cycle through the test sequences but when I turn the system off and on, error 12 always comes back.

Can anybody help?

Thanks

Sounds like you have a good battery, but a bad solder. Check continuity on the board, NOT the battery itself.

Also check that you have soldered the Battery in the correct position, + to + and - to -

I hate to admit this, but the battery was in backwards... thanks Harp!

Error 12 cleared, 60 & 60-1 cleared but now the bottom candle flashes constantly, no error codes.  I have tested the front door optics, they work, the machine resets and tests itself every time the door is opened and closed.  I do not have a coin drop door or sensor.  I have taken the bill accepter out and reseated it, it appears to work fine.

Sorry to ask again, but any ideas?  I've searched online and can't find anything.

Candle will continue to flash until you have played at least 1 game

Play a couple of games and the Candle should stop flashing

I can't play any games, it accepts quarters but they just fall into the hopper, the game doesn't play.  The Coins Played window always stays at 0.

When I turn it on the game runs through the setup, the reels spins to the last game played, then the bottom candle flashes and it won't do anything else.

Does the bill validator enable?  Can you insert a bill to gain credits?

Also, you can try the psuedo coin button on the coin-in optics.  Open the door, and press the tiny white button on the bottom of the coin-in optics assembly (just below the coin comparator).  The machine should "ding" each time you press it, simulating a coin being inserted.  You can then press the Spin Reels button to have it play a test game.

If the psuedo coin button doesn't do anything, your coin-in optics may be disconnected or broken.

In addition to all that has been mentioned, also check that the game is seeing that the Door is Closed

I got it working, thanks for all of your help guys.  It ended up being the bill validator, it must not have been seated well, when I took it out and reseated it properly the game would finally accept a quarter and when I played a game everything reset, just like you said it would.  The bill validator won't accept any bills but that's a small matter, we always use quarters anyway.  I do have a Set 15 chip for the validator but I'm not sure if I want to mass with that right now, I have a party next weekend and really wanted the game working for it!  I think I'll just be happy with it right now and mess with the validator after the party.

Thanks again!
