i have an alien steel ruler with 1/10 divisions of the inch, strange but true, well you could say 5 and 2/5ths  or over the pond     CaptainHappy Worried      they would say 13.70cm which is 2.54cm to the inch.   applause

Also I think the part number I gave is for the hopper without the 4th inner hole, but Happ has what he needs, probaly more in shipping than what the item costs bawling

cheers

arrow Thanks for the help guys, the picture shows me what I need to know, my wheel measurs 5 1/8.  Thats why the coins bind in the wheel and slip under the knife, they are riding too low. Maybe this one was for odd size tokens? Yep gonna need a new wheel. propeller

Lots of people seem to complain that Happ charges way too much on shipping...

Oh yeah, They'll kill you with the shipping.
If you place a wanted add in the classified section, I'm sure one of our vendors will pick up on it.
Did you try dropping the height of your knife to the top of the shelf to see if quarters ride up onto the knife?
Just loosen the two screws holding the knife, drop it to the level of the shelf
and re-tighten it and run  some quarters through it to see what happens.

Too much is a relative term.....black box shipping is probably more accuracte.

They appear to have a min shipping charge. Its not consistent, between orders.
For instance buy a $2.00 hopper knife and shipping turns out to be $25.00, on the other hand buy $50.00 in parts and shipping is $25.00.
What is really annoying however is that Happ doesn't state what the cost of shipping is, what formula they use to figure it out so you can be savy and make informed decisions.
You just wait until you get your invoice and then "surprize" - but never a good surprize.

The other thing that goes on is when you check out,  you find that 3 of your 5 items are out of stock and there is this little check box that says Ship Partial Order.
It doesn't say Out of Stock when you are on a page choosing items (again allowing you to make an informed decision)

Once when I read "out of stock" I was thinking weeks ..... so I clicked it. I ended up getting my order broken into 3 shipments.
Each of the items however changed to instock the same week ?

So I bought $18.00 worth of parts total, but paid $75.00 in shipping.

Albiet whilst I sit in my office whining about this.... Happ carrys and sells a lot of parts that you can't get anywhere else and even carry a bunch of NOS. The prices on the parts are not unreasonable. I have talked to more than one arcade operator who said that if Happ wasn't around they would have been out of business years ago.

That is not why the coin is slipping under the knife, your deflector (the stainless part under the knife) is probably distorted and raising the knife outward or the knife has become warped and is not flat, or the pinwheel is not shimmed correctly (doubt it), the smaller shelf wheel would just cause the coin not to be counted correctly, anyway we will sell a quarter shelf wheel  for $8.00 (since Happ has dem fer dat sez sylvester) and $4.80 shipping and you get by Saturday, the knife and deflector are in my store and can be added as well for no extra shipping, You should move you optic to the frame of the hopper and get rid of the lever trip roller, or you could just buy the whole complete frame, known working for $34.95 plus 9.85 shipping and don't worry about it, the frame is the black part between the motor and the bowl, you just reuse your metal, and bowl along with your optic (like new IGT Part)

I will try to post a picture of my hopper later to show you what I mean. The new knife appears to be laying flat on the pinwhel and shelf.
And I will be dealing with the people here firs, considering all they help they are giving me.
I am working some deals now with the vendors here, and I intend to spread my money around to all of them. I will be needing more goodies and I intend to give em all a shot at my hard earned cash applause

Here is a pic the hopper, and the result, I have changed out different knifes, checked the deflector (it was as flat as a ruler), even removed it and run it, same problem occurs.  When compared to the pic posted above,
it it obvious to me at least that the coins are riding the pinwheel too low, due to the smaller diameterof the shelf wheel.  I have ordered a new shelf wheel, hope that fixes it.

The pinwheel coin spacer nipples are too high and far apart...they're compressing the quarter down against the knife instead of pushing the quarter left-wards onto the top of the knife....That's a large, token type of pinwheel I'll bet.
The funny thing is (Look at my nipples)... rotflmao rotflmao rotflmao rotflmao bust gut laughing bust gut laughing bust gut laughing

Now THAT did NOT come out right!!! bust gut laughing Duh!

(Laughter subsiding)....Your pinwheel nipples are the same as mine?  Scratch Head Scratch Head Scratch Head

Look at mine...(up on Reply#1) they look like yours...how come I don't have that problem?? Hmmmm.....

My pinwheel is a 14 count nipple wheel.  The manual says it should be 15.  But several people here have told me that
14 is the proper number for quarter wheels.  My wheel is a 1/4 inch smaller diameter than yours, and the wear marks on my pinwheel
makes it appear that at one time there was a larger shelf wheel on it about the same diameter as yours.  Hopefully the new shelf wheel will solve
the problem.  If not I will just order a another pinwheel.

Until you get the knife flat with the pinwheel you are going to have the same problem no matter how many different shelf wheels/pinwheels you try, is the shelf wheel even fastened down, there appears to be no agitator or screws in place

The agitator and and screws had been removed just prior to the picture being taken.  With the knife flat on the wheel and screwed down, you can barely get a piece
or paper in behind it.  The knife is new, and even with the deflector removed the same problem occurs.

2 good calls Jim. Although the hopper will function without the agitator, you will probably get alot of binding or pooling at the bottom of the hooper and then a hopper error. I don't think the space between the nipples will cause a problem even though it does look like a larger token pinwheel because there doesn't seem to be enough space to possibly get another coin in there.

I would wait until you receive the right parts, your trying to make something work that won't.   HOWEVER,  you can check a few things while you wait for the correct part.  The pin wheel (with the nipples on it)  should be flush with the black housing , the deflector plate should fit into a cutout on that same black housing. Then you can test the hopper out of the machine, in its current state,  as you have placed quarters on the shelf you can rotate the hopper by hand and watch and see exactly what is going on. To do this :  look at the motor on the opposite side of hopper, you will see a arm that is on a pivot, if you push it with you finger it should move in toward the motor and when you release it it will spring back , this is the brake,  if you hold it in with your left hand you can rotate the pinwheel ccw with your right hand and watch how the coins are rolled onto the knife and out of the hopper. It will seem hard to do this but it can be done and you can observe everything that is going on. Your star agitator has to be secured by the screws to accomplish this.
It looks as if that shelf wheel is for a 50 cent coin.

I agree with the others as well...
Try flipping the shelf inside out....the edge may be worn in a funny way too.
Also, check the very tip of your "new" knife. Sometimes there's a defect in which the tip is slanted.
My fix was to remove the knife, turn it upside down and sand the knife on rough sandpaper on a table or bench.
The top of the knife where the coins ride on must be totally flat.
If the tip is slanted downward toward the pinwheel,
then the pressure of the downward force of the wrong-sized pinwheel will make the coin push the knife outwards.

ADD>>you would not believe how much damage a dime or piece of paper does to a knife...even human hair...ARGHHH!!

Jim, it doesn't look like his knife is against the pinwheel but maybe caught on the shelf plate. Coins are going behind the knife and back to the hopper resevoir not up the knife to the chute. Of course I may be wrong.  propeller

Yea,  I can see that,  but according to his post #17  he claims the knife is indeed flat. So I am thinking that the mis match between the shelf wheel and using a smaller coin is driving the coin behind the knife, ????

I wonder if there's perhaps an extra shim behind the pinwheel plate?
Maybe one too many or too thick?
That would hold the pinwheel out just a hair and
could possibly cause the coins to wedge behind the knife to the point
where the coins get jammed behind it totally?
No matter what, I agree that he has either a shelf too small or a pinwheel too big for quarters.
It still doesn't explain why mine works...I have pretty much the same set up. Scratch Head

Okay, I just took my hopper apart....AGAIN!   Tongue Out
The shelf plate number on the front of it is : 5705508 AS 3 -96
It also has the inscription>> "This Side Out" rotflmao
It's "american" measurments are still 5-3/8".
The pinwheel's number on the back of it is: 58803900 C  AS 04 96
I measured the diameter of the pinwheel and got 7-3/8" and with nipple spacings of 1-1/16".
I found no shims on the shaft under the pinwheel.
