American 7S question

Hi,
I was going to put the American 7S game on my 400 machine but see there are only 4 chips. Is this correct? I don't want to mess anything up if there is suppose to be more.

As long as you don't insert any of the software chips backwards on this cpu board you won't hurt anything. The worst that can happen is the machine will give an error on boot-up. As far as I know, as long as you have chips marked U2 and U3 those are the game chips. The other chips are for sound, are marked U30, U31, U17 and U18 and the number of them used on the cpu board varies with the game and how many sound effects it has. Some games have empty sound chip sockets, usually at the U17 or U18 position I think. So go ahead and try it, I don't think you'll blow anything up. Just get the correct chip into the correct socket, the socket is marked on the board nearby. And look twice at the notched end of the chip to be sure you are inserting it correctly. All the dip chip notches face the same direction on the cpu board, which is a solid engineering design done when space permits.

Also, if you get the American 7's installed can you show us a picture of it? We love photos of these old machines, especially the ones that are not commonly seen.
