Hi Guys
i just got hold of an old machine through a friend
Its called Mexican rose and the cabinet is Aristocrat mk4 i think
I have been searching the net trying to find some information on it but cant find anything at all
I have to go and pick it up in a few weeks but just wanted to see what the game is and when it was made etc
If anyone has an idea of where on the net i can find some info on it please let me know

There should be a year printed on the EPROM labels (U86 or U87; U9 on the main board if it's a MK2.5), provided they are the original labels. A MK2.5 board has an additional smaller PCB on top of the main board for the graphics chips, whereas the MK4 has everything on a single large PCB.

Additionally, the game will show a copyright year when it powers up, assuming it is in working condition with no errors (the copyright will only appear when the machine has zero credits, and only immediately after being left alone, for example running out of credits or closing the door). Note that early games will display the same "©1986 AINSWORTH NOMINEES P.L" string even if they are much later, so this cannot always be used to identify the game's year of release.

 Please Post Pictures

Edit: If this is Margarita Rose (which is one of the much later MK6 games), disregard the above paragraph, as MK5 and later games do not show the year on the screen (the year and part number is still displayed on the EPROM labels however).

That is correct, but Margarita Rose was MK6. Smiley

Well, it is Mexican Rose, at least according to the artwork.

As for the audit/test menu, it's definitely not an Aristocrat - MK2.5 and MK4 games have primitive graphics with NES-like fonts, and the later games have plain DOS-like text when you turn the key.

Edit: Don't chuck it (if the thought ever crossed your mind at all!), if you don't want it I'll pick it up, I've been looking for a cabinet to play around with. Smiley
