Just looking at the stats (which I don't frequently do), and seen we have 13 Members online and 31 Guests!!! Why is that ratio not flipped? I realize there is a fine line between Members and Guests, but does it really take that much to get someone to register? But, we have soooooooo much info out there already, I guess many find no need to register or become a member, as the info they need is already out there for them to see? Just doing the math...

We've been inundated with spambots lately. Between them and Google (and other search engines) indexing the site, you'll see quite a few connections.

We try our best to keep the spammers banned and off the forum quickly. Smiley

There was a post not too long ago too about setting your account as a guest or something like that.  Maybe there are more members on as "guest"?

I have my browser erase cookies and history upon closure, so when I first visit, I show up as a guest too until I log in.  That could be part of the reason too.

No, you can set your account to hide your online status, but I don't think that makes you a guest.

What you mentioned in your second paragraph would make you appear as a guest and then also a member (at least for a short period of time, until the "guest" connection timed out).  As channelmaniac said, any spambot, web crawler, etc. that visits the site gets counted as a guest, even though it's not an actual person.

I immediately became a member because I was looking for information.  As a guest, you don't get to see pictures.  As I explore the site, I am uncovering more and more items that I just wasn't aware of.  I wish there were some more FAQs geared towards noobs.
