did you try my suggestion?  I've seenb these connection problem come and go.

After talking with Ripohl on the phone we were still not able to get this possum to wake up. I guess I will screw with it tonight after work. Hope yall have some more ideas or I may use this machine as a boat anchor.

if the machine worked as it should  and the only thing you did was to remove the money from the cash can, then the only thing that is causing your problem would be the cash can door switch, it will disable the whole machine. check and see if the switch is still installed, it is a trigger operated type switch, when the door hit the roller arm it will push the arm in and activate the switch, bypass this switch, and your problems will disappear.

once this is done you should be able to press the tiny white button on the coin optics board and establish credits and play the machine. then you can go into the test mode and run the test that shows you the SS and SP numbers, just press the spin reels switch, each winning combo will come up on the reels and show the payout values, you could check each and every combo.  this will compare the correct reel strip position to the glass payouts.

Hope this helps

Okay, now I am confused even more. While getting ready for work my power flickered, and the machine recycled, then just started working. I was certain it was a connection issue somewhere, but now I am stumped. Any ideas?

True to it's history, it quit working as soon as it started - without opening the machine at all.

As posted in the previous message, I taped the bill collector door switch down. I will try running these tests as you suggested when I return home.

Please see above post for a little more info on the problem.

Instead of taping the switch, remove the wires completely and twist them together then tape them. That switch is now out of the loop. Never worry about the BVD door again

When the machine isn't working, are there any numbers on the red LED displays?  If not, it could be the power connector between the power supply and the motherboard, which is covered in a sticky topic in this S+ subforum.

The way the machine is acting, I would unplug and reconnect each connector multiple times. Since it sat unplayed for so long in a basement I would suspect corrosion. And I mean every connector, not just until it starts working again. Do 1 at a time several times to make sure you have good contact. The power connector Knagle is talking about is behind the hopper. Has 6 wires in a flat connector plugged into the motherboard on the bottom of the machine. Look at the backside of that plug for a burn mark. Good Luck

Ok I found the wire connection that was loose. It is the white plug on the left side of the BV. I just starting wiggling things around until the BV light came on.

But what is interesting is again when I pulled money out of the bill collector it stopped working. During the process I redid the tape on the door switch. It stopped working again. I tried the white plug like I had found and that want it. I untapped the bill collector door switch and bam the light comes on and the BV was back to working LOL I have no idea why if I push the bill collector door switch the BV stops working.

Instead of taping the switch, cut the wires to it (just 2) and twist them together and tape them. Move the wires away and tuck them under the bottom. Never a problem with that switch again. That is the first thing I do to all my machines.

so are you saying the switch is a closed circuit when the button is pushed? Because right now if I open the belly glass and push the bill collector door switch the machine will STOP working. I have to leave the button unpushed for it to work.

Yes, the switch makes the circuit. Possibly someone moved your wires. I have seen switches with 3 connectors for normally opened and normally closed. Maybe someone moved one wire. I would still wire those suckers together and forget about them.
