I've stayed at multiple places in Vegas, but have greatly preferred the Venetian for a few years now. Never done the Bellagio but heard good things about it.

If you get Gold or Platinum Card level the comps are good in my estimation. I'm gold and get regular offers for 3 or 4 nights free with slot credits or slot tournaments and often dining credits too. By regular I mean the offers show up probably twice a week on average. There is a gold card lounge off the high limit room that has free snack type items like sandwiches, soup, fruit etc. I was there about 3 months ago and recall about five $5 wheel of fortune machines in the high limit room.

When are you going? I stay at Ceasar properties being a diamond member. I'm going in jan staying at the Quad , not my first choice but my casino host is hooking me up with a 2 bedroom penthouse suite and more. Just my opinion.

Venetian now only comps the highest of the high rollers, and they've reneged on a comp offer at the last second to someone I know on a Vegas message forum which gives them a big red "X" in my book.  Additionally, the perfume they pump in the air smells like dirty diapers.

Bellagio would be a better choice -- they're part of the MGM Resorts International group, which includes in Las Vegas: Bellagio, Aria, MGM Grand, New York New York, Excalibur, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay.  They also own Circus Circus, although that's the bastard stepchild casino in their group, and I don't know if they're on the same players card as the rest of the properties.

A benefit of playing at an MGM property is that you'll likely trigger future offers from multiple properties based on your play this trip, especially if you drop in and give even a tiny bit of play at some of the other properties while you're staying and playing at Bellagio.  As an added bonus, Bellagio has a great center-strip location.  Also, if there's a MGM property near your home, the points you earn there will pool with the points you earn in Vegas.

I'm actually a big downtown/off-strip kinda guy, but for your first Vegas trip, stay on the strip for the full experience.

...and yes, you'll be able to find plenty of $5 Wheel of Fortune just about anywhere.

six people sounds fun for a week, I'm jealous. I think your going to be fine given what you're looking for....whatever you choose. If you're there for a full week at least one night on Fremont (downtown) should be on the agenda IMHO.  Crazy
