i have a triple triple diamond machine here that im trying to fix and when i open and close the doors the reels all move and stop but then it will give me either a 41 42 or 43 error code. the error code is almost always different each time. could i have a bad reel or would it be something else? any ideas??

Try your connections. Sounds like dirty one's since it alternates between them. They plug from the bottom and check connections at board.

ok, i checked all the connections, they are all good. i seem to be getting error 43 more than the others. is there any way to check for a faulty reel?? i have a spare set of reels from another machine. could i plug one in and test to see if the reel is broken or what else to try??

Sure can. Try the spare set of reels you have, you don't have to put the reel strips on them.

i just tryed that and im getting the same issue. originally this machine had the battery corrode on the mainboard so i replaced the board because it need a new battery and the capacitor below it blew up from the battery leaking. the board i received as a replacement has the same connectors and looks almost identical except it doesnt have a volume knob or the dip switches. could the board be my issue??

TTD is a type 0 game and the 10 MHZ chip won't work.
For a type 0 game you will need a Sp1019, SP1145, SP1147 or SP1160.

Yep, as Proten mentioned, the SP chip you had on your 10mhz board won't work properly in a 16mhz board and will give you funky results like the reel errors you're encountering.  You'll need a SP chip designed for a 16mhz board if you wish to continue to use that board.

Wouldn't it be easier to just buy the SP chip you need? $10 and your done...and keep that 16mhz board as a backup, since you know it works!

i suppose. i dont know much about the chips tho, id rather just use the ones i have already and get the proper board for the machine. i have another machine here with no board and no chips so i could probably use the 16mhz board in that and get the appropriate chip for it

A 16mhz board is a "proper" board for a S+ machine -- it's just a newer generation board.  It has a small drawback (for home ownership) in that there's a static noise that comes out of the speaker with a 16mhz board.  In a casino environment you'd never hear it, but in a quiet basement, it can be an annoyance.

my machines all have static noise out of the speakers. they have the boards with the volume control on them. i beleive they are dated 1994. the new board i bought has no volume control and is dated 1995. the 1995 board is the 16mhz one im guessing? the chips i have came off the 1994 board. i only took the game prom and reel prom from it for the new board.

i have 2 machines here that im trying to fix. one is missing the main board entirely (tray, cpu board and chips) the other had the battery melt down on it, so im trying to replace it. what im thinking is since i have the 16mhz board already maybe i can use it in the machine with no chips and buy the proper chips for it, but then i still need the tray with the trasnformer. i can then buy a 10mhz board that should plug and play work in my triple diamond machine. so basically i need a 10mhz main board, the metal tray with the transformer and the proper chips for this 16mhz board in my chaos machine

Sounds like you are set to post a Want to Buy ad in our classifieds! The boards with the volume controls are 10mhz, the one without is a 16mhz. Use that as a guide, not so much the dates, as they could have overlapped.

Take a look at this post.  It lists all of the known GAME ("SP") chips, and what game type they support.  Since your Chaos game is a Type 2 game, you'll need a SP chip that supports type 2.  If you plan to run it on a 16mhz board, you'll need to find a chip that both supports type 2 and 16mhz (SP1252 is the only one I see that does both).

Pay attention to the tray you have. Some have rounded cut-out's in them others don't. Check the tray you have to be sure if that is the one you need for the machine missing entire board.

The circuit board is attached to the tray with only 4 screws
and is interchangable should you not find another tray and transformer.

All you gotta do is remove the screws, pull the plug, swap the trays, tighten the screws back on
and reconnect the transformers' Molex plug.
