Sigma board with full error log. Did we have a fix for this on the old site?

... then when it booted up we could see the sigma error log was full contact sigma.  So he replaced the MB also to clear that error ...

Stinger's machine is up and running, so this is a rhetorical question for now, but I wanted to revisit this issue in the interest of replacing lost information.

Wasn't this an issue that came up on the old site? I don't remember if it was for the same machine, but as I recall, the manufacturer set the machine to lock up when the error log was full to force the casino to contact them to inspect the problematic machine rather than to keep clearing it, etc.

Does anyone else remember if there was a solution to this issue? My CRS memory was that either we had called the MPU board a frisbee or that there was a way to reset it using a keypad??

I was under the impression you would have to do a Dallas All Clear on it to clear that log. But there might be another way.  The error is definately stored on the MB not the backpane or anywhere else.

Have come across a Sigma with this error displayed, can anyone tell me how it is cleared as using the Clear and Set chips does not work, and according to the Manual "machine error log full, please contact sigma"

So this is what I was told by a Las Vegas tech for over 15 years. He seemed to recall watching the sigma reps plugging in a standard keyboard to the receptacle, it's on the upper right hand side of the backplain board above the MB. When the game starts and gives the option to boot to the bios (using the ESC button on the keyboard) there will be an option to reset the bios. It's (Y) for yes and (N) for no, and you have to use the up and down arrows on the key board (it will also give you the option to save all changes). I've actually done this as far as booting to the bios and resetting my bios, but I actually didn't have any errors (it didn't hurt anything). I just wanted to see how it was all set up. I wish I had a spare board that had one of these errors, because I'd like to figure it out just in case!

BTW, the error is stored in the (DISC ON CHIP) IC. This chip acts as a secondary HD, and that where you'd be resetting the bios. I hope this help.

I have a Sigma uv1700 with this "error log full" problem too.
And i have several extra (known working) disk on chips.
Changing the DOC does *not* fix the problem (at least in
my case.)

I have also used the Clear chip (v1.02) and it has not cleared
the log full error.

I have hooked up a keyboard before and hit ESC at boot up.
Unfortunately in the BIOS there is like *nothing* you can
change. It's all grayed out.

The only way to change any settings is using the SET chip.
I will try this, but i seriously doubt that will fix the problem
either. but i'll give it a try tomorrow.

I'm just wondering....now I know nothing about this but
what if you kept pressing the "F8" key on boot up?
Works for a lot of computers...why not Sigmas?
Might turn the grayed-out text into configurable options?
Just a shot in the dark...

I don't think they want you to change any
BIOS settings. I think that's the point.
The SET chip is designed for that, but
unfortunately, you can't get to the SET
chip options because the "log full" error
doesn't allow the game to boot that far.
it's a catch22.

Mine didn't have any errors, might have been why my bios setup wasn't greyed out, but there is something that you may want to read first before trying this again.
Go to this site and download this file: (DPX 80 INSTALL GUIDE). Read through it and try to reset the bios again.

I just glanced at the manual (80 pages) ... But I read what was posted here(mainly CFH) and I really never cared about the errors' because I figured they were cleared by the clear or set chip... Now I need to read some
