Help I recently purchased a bally's classic dollar slot.  It turns on but coins just fall through.  It is missing the hopper. Do I need the hopper to make it work? The counter is at 28 do I need to somehow reset it? Does any one have any possible clues to what I can do to get it working?

Without the proper hopper in the machine, what it is doing is about all that it will do, you need the hopper with a good hopper control board in it for it to work.  FYI, the reset button IS on the hopper control board which is in the hopper.

If you can locate a hopper, make sure that it has the control board and that it is for an E-1000, I do not know if one from an E-2000 will work or not but I do know the control boards are different.

The "28" is probably an error code which I do not know offhand and my book is not handy right now, the code will PROBABLY go away/change if you put a hopper in it.

Shown is my E-1088 hopper, the control, board is in front, the reset button is the left one of the two (In Red).

How would you expect it to play/payout without a hopper??? Silly Me!

Good Luck!!

First off, I believe this is an E/M machine and not an E1000 machine so while JMac is correct that you need a hopper, there is no control cards on
the E/M hoppers. Just relays, switches and wiper boards. Don't get down on Jmac, this is very easy to assume because Bally made machines like
a 1090 E/M and an E1090, and to make matters worse they made an E2090 and they all look about the same.

I don't think they ever made an E1086 though, at least not that I could find in my information.

You will need to locate a hopper before you will be able to get this machine to work. My guess is that any of the Bally machines made in
the mid 1970's would work. There is one exception though and that would be a hopper from  the 1081 Medalist, that has a unique hopper
with a huge oversized plug (3 slots in one cabinet)

Thank you both for your help. I do appreciate it. Here are some pictures of the machine, if you notice anything else missing(besides the hopper) please let me know. Thank you again.

This is a Bally Classic 3 line Play and probably a model 6831. You will need a hopper and they will be somewhat difficult to locate.

There was another post regarding a Bally Classic and it looks exactly like this one, he also needed a hopper

I don't know where to find one but I did give a part number so that you would know it if you found it., that number
is AS-3105-126. You might find other hoppers that start with the same AS-3105, the 126 should indicate that it is
for $1.00 so if you find a similar hopper you have a shot at getting the shelf and other items to convert it to a $1

I think I have a hopper that will work, but I will have to change the pinwheel form quarter to dollar...I have a bally classic 1147-1 parts machine..im going to my shop today to look for some more parts for another member..how many pins on your beau plug? one of my classics is 24 and the other is 30..Jim k-falls..i could be mistaken, but it looks like your missing the whole bottom tray with all the c r relays and coin/line unit and 12 way programmer
