New slot owner, e-2090 help

I have always wanted a slot machine and I finally found a Bally E-2090. The guy i bought it from purchased it from the Riverside casino in Vegas. I was told that it had an electrical problem from the guy i purchased it from. I got a manual from a member here and ran through the start up tests and everything seemed to function properly. I then put in a quarter, pulled the lever. The lever was slightly harder to pull than i remember and it locked into the down position without the reels spinning. After looking closely i found that a lever in the back needed to drop down to allow the lever to rise back to the start position. Could this be caused because of a lack of cleaning? I don't think it has ever been cleaned and i would guess the guy i bought it from never lubed it. I was able to remove the reel assembly fairly easily but the pull handle assembly looks more difficult.
What should i do next? Do you think the reels would spin if the handle didnt jamb? Is it difficult to remove the handle assembly so i could properly clean it? What oil and lube should i use?

Cleaning and lubrication of these machines is always a requirement. You problem might be the white tube mounted on the side of the
reel assembly. This tube is about 5 inches long and 1 1/4 inches in diameter. Inside of that is a plunger that is made of rubber
and often times this rubber will turn to goo.

I would remove the rubber portion and then clean the inside of that tube, make sure that the hole at the back of the tube is clear.

As long as you have the reel assembly out you might as well clean the arms in between the reels and then lubricate the reel hubs.
The reels have an aluminum hub and a small oiling hole so that you can put a drop or two of sewing machine oil in there. You do
want the reels to be free spinning, if they don't spin fast enough you will get error codes.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know that the reel is why the pull lever binds and wont return. Even with the reel assembly removed, the lever doesn't want to return.

So I took the air cylinder off of the reel assembly. Is it supposed to be able to move? Mine is completely bound up and won't go forward or backward? I ordered some cup seals to make a new seal but i dont have a schematic of the air cylinder inards.

You don't need to replace the cup seal, just clean out the goop
and lube the piston with a light coating of grease.
Just make sure the tiny vent hole at the end is open.

Thx proten. The piston is really bound inside the plastic tube. I was able to get it to move but still working on getting it removed

Ok, i was finally able to get the plunger out of the tube. There was what i would call a tar type substance that i believe was causing the binding. The plunger looks to be made of some sort of plastic that doesnt  appear to be aging well. I attached a pic. Any tips on cleaning the tube?

That rubber can get quite messy and quite sticky. You mentioned a drawing of the innards of the air cylinder. There really isn't
much of anything in there other than the piston and the seal that is mounted to it. but here is a drawing showing an exploded
view. Also a drawing of the reel assembly so that you can see the Hub bearing (#58) that I was stating should have a drop
or two of oil applied.

Once you get the rubber out I would use a cloth soaked in alcohol, kind of like cleaning the barre of a really big shotgun

What do you mean adjust the payouts? do you mean increase the payout percentage? Payout percentages are controlled
by the P1 (or M7) chip depending on the mother board you have, and the reel strip numbers.

I created a database for one of our other NLG users website and then stuffed it with all of the information that I had
available at the time. You can access this database by going to  http://www.coinslots.com/roms.php

There is a link called DB Help where you can get a brief set of instructions but the short course would be to click on
the small button that says Search. This will open windows below the columns. In the Model column enter E2090 and
then either hit return or hit the Query button.

There is 173 records for this machine, the part number will correspond to the chip in P1 or M7 and in the notes to the far
right you will see the reel strip numbers (Tape) and the machine type such as  FRT 3CM which means it is a Fruit Machine and
a 3 coin Multiplier
