Help please. I am new to this. I have a IGT double diamond machine (do not know if a s or s+). Tag on side says model #35036CI and was built on 10/92. My wife hit the three diamonds and will not reset with key. Display says paid 1, credits 143 and bet 2. I have tried to reset with key many times with front open and closed to no avail. Will not accept coins or play. Please help. Thanks in advance

Hmm... to Reset a jackpot, the door must be closed in order to Reset but it sounds like the Reset key unit did it's job already
and the game is just waiting for you to press the Spin button or pull the handle.
Do these numbers on the display go away when you close the door?

The picture you've posted above is blank...?

Check the door emitter optic with a camera to see if it's emitting light blue-ish UV light.
There's no way to check a cabinet reciever optic though.
Here's a way to check if you don't have a camera.
Go do test #24...>>>

Press the little white Test button until you see a [2] in the "Coins Played" window on the reel glass display.
Flip the Reset key until you see a [24] in the "Winner Paid" window.
Then press the SPIN button to see if the number changes in the Credits Played window from a [zero] to a [1]

I posted the link to the ouput test sheet and a pictire of your door emitter optic.
Click on photo to make larger if needed...>>>

Here's a link to a video below that I made a few years ago showing us what the door emitter looks like through the camera lens.

http://youtu.be/OIdPdiLXM_s

It should appear sort of blue-ish purple flashes.
If so, then the door emitter optic is functioning.
The cabinet-side reciever optic cannot be checked though unless you have a homemade harness that bypasses the optic lamps completely, that way you can rule out a defective receiver optic diode.

The reason why I'm suspecting that you have a problem with the door optics is because you've indicated to me that the numbers are not changing on the reel glass display when you open/close the door.

Another way you can help me figure this problem out is the topbox candle.
Are both the top and bottom candles flashing?
If, so...can you tell me if the bottom candle lamp is flahing faster than the top candle lamp?

This is not a definite diagnosis because often the new owner sometimes doesn't even know if the lamps are even burned out or not.
I'm just looking for more info as possible to try to help you.
Remember, the more you can tell us or show us - the better we can help you.

As soon as I close the door all of the reels spin back to the jackpot.  The only time the light on the candle flashes is when I turn one of the reels and the bottom (blue) lamp has never come on.  Thanks

The reels spinning indicates that the door optics are working.
The bottom blue candle lamp may be burned out.
You can replace the lamp later.

Time to check the coin comparitor and then the coin-in optic boards under the CC.
See if you can acquire better coin acceptance.

Now...are the coins dropping back into the coin tray or into the hopper bowl?
Check the Sample coin in the coin comparitor.
Make sure it is identical to the ones you are dropping into the slot on deck.
With a small Philips screwdriver, rotate the coin sensitivity dial counter-clockwise to the end then turn it clockwise 1/4 of a turn.
Before you close the door, wiggle the two grays wires on top of the comparitor to make a better contact connection.
( FYI these gray wires control the "rake" behind the CC)
Close the door, drop a coin through and see if it registers a credit.

Forget about the candle for now and follow Stayoutofthebunker's instructions. The candle will stop flashing after first game is played. Until then, all the candle is is a really annoying night light.

As soon as I close the door all of the reels spin back to the jackpot.

It should be good to go if you're not getting the rapid "ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding" of a jackpot.  Since you have credits on the machine, what happens when you press the "Bet 1 Credit" button, and then "Spin Reels"?

Check the wires under the deck for your SPIN button.
Sounds like you've maxed out the bets allowed and the spin button is not working.
The machine will accept anymore coins because you've reach the max bet.
The coins will drop through the deck slot and down into the coin tray forever until the game is completed
and ready to accept more bets.

FYI:  You are allowed to swap out the SPIN button switch with the CHANGE button switch if needed.
The SPIN button switch is far more heavily used than the CHANGE button switch will ever be.

Checked all wires to all switches and fine.  None of the switches on the front do anything except the cash out button is flashing.

Are the reel symbols D. Diamond/D. Diamond/D. Diamond still on the pay-line?

Two facts are a given here:
#1. The machine MUST have been reset at some point since it accepted two credits and it's maxed out.
Because of this, we know that the Reset key unit works.

#2. When the machine accepts any credit, the solenoid disengages the latch holding the pull handle.

From what you're telling me so far, we are narrowed down to only 3 things that are possibly wrong.

1). The pull handle mech and wiring is suspect.
2). The SPIN button switch is suspect.
3). The MPU is suspect.

How do you know the SPIN button is functioning if you cannot get into the Input/Output Tests with credits on the display?
Have you checked the button switches with a multimeter to see if they function?
Does the solenoid for the pull handle disengage when power is applied to it?

Since the pull-handle and the SPIN button work together, I'd be checking out the ground wires to these units.

The last reason is implied that the MPU is suspect is because the MPU may not be sending signals to enable both the SPIN button
and pull-handle solenoid since the MPU has recieved 2 credits.

Just wondering, is there a "MAX" bet button on your button deck?

I just noticed something.
Your display is showing "Paid 1"?

Is your hopper functioning?
Did indeed one coin drop into the tray after you hit the "jackpot"?
Maybe you never hit the jackpot at all?
Maybe your reel strips are incorrectly placed on the wheels and you really only won 1 credit!

If not then I'm also wondering if your hopper settings are set to pay out the entire jackpot amount of credits.
The DD game usually has a jackpot of 2,400 credits.
Maybe it still needs to pay out 2,399 credits?

I'd love to see a photograph of your reel glass display and deck button setup and what it is showing.
I'd like to see if the "Coin Accepted" light is on or not.
Is the lamp burned out there too?

Stayoutofthebunker is on the right track. The Winner Paid of 1 is not logical if the top award was hit. Is this machine new to you? Have you played it much? Just wondering if it has always paid correctly until now?

Every other time that the reset has to be used (two double diamonds and a 7) it would give one credit and then use the reset key and be able to continue.  This jackpot was for the three double diamonds and has not worked since.  I have had the machine for 6 years.  Bought it in reno when lived there.

jeesh...now it sounds like it's set for a "Partial Payout"
Pays out 1 credit and the rest is "Attendant Hand-Pay"?
Why would anyone set up a machine to pay out like that?

What SP chip is in there?
I can find a sheet to see if that setting is possible with your chip.

Here's a link to find out how to determine what SS and SP chips are installed on the MPU...>>>

The game chip reads s-plus game sp269 standard 01/26/93 (1-256) @IGT L93-0227
The reel chip reads s-plus reel mech ss3442 02-08-90 (1-64k) @igt L90-0448.

Note: when reinstalled board winner paid went to two after wheels spun
