What is the difference between the 502 and 504 s2000 boards and if changed from one to the other would I have to do any other changes to the game to make it play?

Thanks lost and confused Dave

502 produces annoying static through the speakers.   Do yourself a favor and make sure you get a 504B board.

Thanks,
Jason

I did this yesterday, moved chips from a nasty 502 to a 504B board.  Few key turnes few white button holds and back up without the static.

Prob have to adjust sounds if you are using enhanced sound.  Pretty easy process.

I keep hearing how anything but the 504 sound board sucks.  At what point did IGT convert to 504 sound boards?  Where do you buy 504 sound boards and how much do they cost?

There's no such thing as a 504 sound board. What you're looking for is a 504B MPU board. It's the only version of the 500 series boards that didn't produce static in the speakers when used in conjunction with an MMLII multimedia daughter board and sound simm. I even had a 504A that had static. Please note that when not using a multimedia board it is pretty rare to experience the static problem. When IGT put out a workaround to "fix" this issue it looked like a weak attempt at improving the grounding and didn't work well. You could expect to pay somewhere in the $50 neighborhood for a good 504B board
