   MEI/Mars $5 Update
« on: April 07, 2008, 07:44:46 PM »

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello!

Just got 2 new IGT S2000 slots and both have a MEI/Mars ZT1202 bill acceptors in them.  One has a version sticker of 2.23 and can take the new $10s.  One has a version sticker of 2.22 and can not take the new $10s.  Anyone have any idea if and how to upgrade them to the new $5s?  The version chip is a removable square PLCC on the bottom of the transport.  Checked MEI's webpage and even registered and got a login - but can't seem to find any info on updating older acceptors, just the newer cashflow...

Thanks!

Dan #2,

This does noet solve your problem, but I think this info is good to have..... I have found in the past that I do not trust the stickers on Bill heads usually. I do not have a S2000 with a MEI to check for you, but I am pretty sure that you can go into the version accounting menu and it should have a section that lists the BV version info... I know that you can do it for WBA, but I do not remember the exact steps to get to that information off the top of my head... (It is alot of fun to see all of the information that you can see scrolling on the little blu VFD... play with the menus it is fun and interesting!!!) If you need help still finding and verifying the version, just let us know. I have rarely seen the BV's correctly labelled with the version information. I too want to update a I-Game + for the new 5 on a Mars BV, but have not had the time to research this yet. I think it is a newer BV than yours as it has the USB connection in the head for updates I believe.

For those of us that have not check your IGT Vision or S-2000 machine info in a while, here's a refresher course:
1. Push and hold white button on the MPU board 3-seconds.
2. You will see Accounting in the VFD screen, then push the Reel button.
3. You will seeTerminal accounting, then push the cash button 4 Xs.
4. You will see 1.6 Version accounts that starts with your SG number. (Vision shows this on the LCD screen)
5. Push the cash button to continue thru each. (some info will scowl , so you have to wait a little)
6. Push the play button a few times to quit.

Ron,

Well put... K+ I was too tired and lazy to fire up the machine and detail the steps last night.

It  is always fun to see/hear of a new S2000 owner's reactions when they venture into the wealth of information that is contained in those menus!

I have been able to locate the $5 updates for my MEI ZT1202 bill acceptors in S2000 machines.  This is a simple PLCC chip replacment on the bottom of the transport that will get your machine accepting all bills including the new $5.  I will have a few extra to sell if anyone is interested - just send me a PM.  They are on the way and should be here in a couple days.

Thanks!

The Plcc is a EEProm. You can remove it and copy it to a new chip or you can use the downlaoder tool. And download it to the ZT1202 from a laptop or computer.

I talked to a MEI/MARS rep and the zt1200 series does not and will not ever have a $5 upgrade chip. The unit is discontinued and so is the support upgrades.
