I'm no cheap skate, I have Pepsi's

Yes, Buzz does stock Pepsi's, just not "The One". Tongue Out So bring your own diet soda, and Neo, make mine Coke Zero!  knockout

I prefer my BEER on the swet side or very little hop taste to it.

Crown and Coke, 7-Up, water or on the rocks is great.
One of these days I will have to buy a bottle of Stranahans Colorado Whiskey

I have never tried Stranahans. Actually I prefer single malt scotch to beer or other straight liquor, although I still fall for the sweet frozen fruity concoctions and Long Island Iced Teas (and in their case, I mean FALL.)

Did you know that a Corvette C5 has six gears?... Scratch Head 3  ...and that the top of fourth gear is around 140MPH?... That's an amazing fact....the faster you go, the better your fuel mileage is
because the engine is actually cruising at lower rpm's! Nerd
Of course you need the correct sized engine in order to get that kind of performance.
I remember my flight instructor telling me that as I was flying along in an Cessna 172.
As we were going down in a slight decreasing altitude - we were going faster
and faster and actually burning a lot less fuel!
I looked at the airspeed and I was going about 155 and I didn't even have a gas pedal! lol
Now, that's really zipping along!

I wasn't referring to getting caught or evading anyone, just the enjoyment of cruising down the highway in the middle of nowhere in the desert at that speed, although I wouldn't know how it really feels, since I've never done it.  no muted ttth  police police

...Just like I wouldn't know how it feels to get a Corvette up to 165-170 MPH in fifth gear but be unsure of the exact speed because the alleged car didn't have the heads up display option and the alleged driver wasn't about to take his alleged eyes off the alleged road for even an alleged 0.1 seconds. Weird Eyes  SpongeBob Butt  The Corvette allegedly still had more power to accelerate, but the alleged driver allegedly chickened out at that alleged point.  CoolChicken  By the way, the alleged brakes were allegedly fantastic, and allegedly brought the car right back down to a non-alleged legal highway speed very quickly and without any pulling, fading, or any other affectation, allegedly. Crazy frying pan Cry Laughing Cry Laughing Cry Laughing

<ADD> The steering was alleged to be rock solid as well, with no shimmying or vibration whatsoever. And since it's computer controlled and gets tighter as the car goes faster, there was allegedly absolutely no play in the steering wheel. But then, I wouldn't really know, since I've never tried it. Actually, that's not true. In the plane, he was using gravity to pick up speed while using less gas, but he could not sustain a faster speed in that manner indefinitely.

With a car, there is an optimal speed at which the vehicle moves the greatest distance with the least amount of fuel on a flat surface. It's different for every car, and depends on lots of factors, like the gear and axle ratios, the tire circumference, the size of the engine and RPMs at a given speed, the aerodynamics of the car ,etc.

In the case of the Vette, the optimal speed seems to be around 40-55mph (now there's  a surprise. Duh!). I got 30 MPH MPG in sixth gear cruising extensively at 55 MPH on a trip to Oregon, which beat the crap out of the Cadillac I was traveling with. He only got about 23-24 MPG at the same speed.

Of course, the car has no torque or acceleration when traveling in sixth gear at that speed, since the engine is running at about 1200 RPM and idle is 800. That's why I think that optimal gas mileage might be obtained at 40mph in sixth gear. The engine would be just a hair above idle and would only have to barely overcome the friction needed to maintain speed.
