If the MPU is taken out and the power supply is then turned on....nothing would be in the display.
However, since the fluorescent lights run off off the power supply...  they should come on...  yes
You won't have the DBV do it's warm up whirring noises and the hopper also relies on input from the MPU...
If you have a meter, you can check to see if there's 115V power coming out of the power supply when it's turned on.
If you have power, then I would check the white molex power harness that goes to the bottom motherboard.
Again, with a meter, you'll be getting 12V from each of the green wires.
The S+ is designed for the two 12V lines to be combined to make a 24V unit.

Woohoo I got the new board, it had a Error 12 on it. I changed the battery and popped it back in.
I am now ready to set it up. What do I do now?
I have an error 61 on it right now.

Thanks! Oh I can't wait!!

Buzz you are the man!! Thanks you so much for all your time and help. Well thank you to all of you!

It is up and running. Woohoo I have reel sounds too.
Later on I and going to clear the ram and try to get that DBV to work.

I am sure I don't have the right reel strips for my game, as I just hit a Triple Diamond, Triple Bar, Triple Diamond and it only gave me 10 credits. I do like the nudge that came with the chips and board.

Thanks guys!!
Troy

Buzz enjoyed talking to you on the phone. Thanks bud!

Another thing to make sure of is that your slant top machine has reels from a slant top and not an upright as that has caused confusion to some folk in the past. They are different due to the different viewing angle of the payline and reels in the two different machines. I believe that the reels for a slant top have an S marking or something unique on them to differentiate them from upright S+ reels. Also Maybe list the chip numbers, and the part numbers from the reel strips and someone might be able to check for you. PICS of the 3 reel strips are helpful also.

Thanks Captain, I think you might be right.
The wheel are a little off centered and a little wobbly too.
I am going to look at the reels to see if I can see an S on them.

Thanks for your help!

Did I need to exchange the cmos chip too? (I did not do it)
I changed the other chips and got error 61, pressed the test button for 3 seconds, colsed door, turned JP key and now I have...
Winner Paid = 0000
Credits = 0000
Coins Played = it is flashing from 0 to 1

Buzz again you are the man!
He got it working again. He called me up and walked me threw the steps.

Oh Buzz you where 100% right about the reels, The strips just need to be clipped back into the slots. No more wobbles.

The pay-out chip on this one stinks, the deluxe was paying out way more..lol...Oh well I can't have it all.
Good thing is I can see what I am winning now.

Thanks a 1000000000000000000000 guys!

I was watching this thread...you're the man Buzz!!! applause
I too, believe sometimes it's downright easier...
to walk someone through the steps it takes to get a machine going by telephone...
you can even hear the machine's noises thru the telephone that you're used to hearing when working on 'em... rotflmao

It's good to hear you got it going again.   What chip do you have in it now?

I was doing the IGT S SLOT: All About Bill Validators
http://www.newlifegames.net/faq1/faq.php?answer=4&cat_name=IGT%20S%20%20SLOT:%20All%20About%20Bill%20%20Validators&category_id=2#4

I did it all the way to:
Power up the machine, it will
display a 61 on the winner paid window, press the reset
button, it will change to 61-1. (I pressed it but it never changed to 61-1) Close door turn the reset
key, and the 61-1 will clear. Insert bills and spin the reels!!!
So do I have to do all the steps all over again?

Thanks!

If you still have the "61" code...there's not that  many steps to do.... rotflmao

To get the "61" code to change to a "61-1",
you have to  Press and Hold  the little white test button until  you hear a "ding"
(if your speaker is working correctly) and/or
see the display change to "61-1"

Then, close the door and turn the reset key...

Finally, there's a difference ( I think)  between an "S+" slot machine and a "S" slot machine...
I've never owned an "S" machine though, so I'm not sure about that...
one thing for sure..."S" machines didn't have DBV's and if they did, it was mounted up on the outside of the machine...
even some of the older model S+'s had external mounted DBV's ...ugly as sin,  I thought... Thumbs Down

Sorry guys I did not get to get back to you last night.
The thunderstorm blew my modem and laptop up. So I got the G-link wireless up and running, stealing the guys internet next door. LOL! I will have a new modem in a few days.

Well, I did not re-do the set chip. I just pull the DBV out and put it back in. The light came right on.
I feed it some bills and it took most of them. It only ripped 2 of my bills in half. I think it might need a new cash box, as it grinds and makes a crunching sound sometimes.

I think it might need a new cash box, as it grinds and makes a crunching sound sometimes.

Pull the box out, then make sure that the whole transport unit is seated correctly, and most importantly make sure the brass thumbscrews below the validator are secured tightly (use a smaller flat head screwdriver to tighten them).  Then try putting your cash box back in.

Slot machine are so odd at times!
Well you know I just got a new MPU board and it works GREAT. I took the old MPU board and flipped the dip switch to on and now that one works too. I wished it would have worked a few weeks ago, before I spent extra money on a board. O well that is ok too, now I can just switch trays when I want to switch to the other game...

Crazy little things!
Thanks!
