My daughter hit the 10,000 credit Jackpot on my S plus Hot Peppers. It didn't add the credits as it was flashing and dinging. I assume this is because the machine only goes up to 9999 credits. I turned the machine off after a few minutes. I turned the power on and there was nothing in the win/credits/coins played lines. I tried the reset key but still no life. The lights work in all the glass. It has SP731 if that helps. Can somebody help?

I take it this was the top award on a Hot Peppers 3CM  yes if so all you need to have done was to insert and turn the jackpot reset key on the RHS of the machine above the handle. Opening the door and powering OFF and ON will not reset the machine into game play mode, you should still have the machine locked up in jackpot mode until you turn the reset key. Sounds like the machine is now not seeing the door closed. Is your coins played seg display showing a "0" if so this is what the problem is "Door Optics", try lifting the door when it is closed and see if the machine comes back to the jackpot mode, better still power off move the machine reels to other positions and switch on/close door. If reels do not go back to the 3 x Hot Pepper symbol it is the machine MPU not seeing door closed, you might have either bad optics on the 1. door or 2. cabinet side.

Try to adjust the cabinet optic by loosening the two screws and moving up and down, but test after you have re aligned them each time. If you have a bad optic  (door or cabinet please note they are different, one is emit and one is detect, they have different colored wires, R/W and Blk/R.)

hope this helps you out

cheers

There is nothing displayed in the coins displayed. The candle isn't flashing and the face plate on the bill acceptor is not lit up. The optics appear to line up correctly. Nothing happens when I try the reset key. It is acting as if a door is open. Very odd. All I did was turn the machine off and then turned it back on a little later so I could reset it. Anything else before I buy new optics? Do you know who would have these? I appreciate the help, lord knows I need it!

Yes I  tried loosening the optics and lifting the door  slowly to see if there was some life. Nothing at all.

If your cash box door does not have a lock, you might also want to make sure that it is completely closed. Sometimes it opens just enough to cause an open door error. However, since there is no "0" in the coin in display, I would give priority to Wayne's  two suggestions.

Fuses checked out but I noticed a brown burn or discoloration on the 2nd pin with a green wire from the right. Could this be my problem? What do I need to replace or do next? I have no testing equipment. Thanks for helping.

I usually replace that harness, it is a common weak spot on an S-Plus machine. I have heard of people cleaning this connection, or removing the connector and soldering the wires to the motherboard. You can try the vendors listed for a new wire or place a WTB (wanted to buy) ad on the site.

Thanks and good luck,
Wayne

I would just call it an S-Plus power supply to motherboard harness, connects to j8 on the motherboard.  Cleaning probably wont last long, but you would basically have to make it so that it will make contact again, some scrape the contact surfaces with something such as a pin end.  I would clean the pin it goes on with a bit of fine emery cloth and take the connecter out of the molex end then try to clean and tighten it.

Thanks,
Wayne

I scraped it a bit, turned the machine on and it worked! I'm sure this is a very short term fix and I will have to replace it. Thanks so much for the suggestions. Don't know how to add karma I will add when I figure it out.

Glad to hear you got it going, it had nothing to do with the jackpot, well maybe, perhaps the extra power draw for the lights and bell were the last straw.

Thanks,
Wayne
