Hello,

Does anyone know of some custom mods for S+ machines?
I'm personally looking for a backlit reel mod for an S+.
I know another mod, the remote controlled s+

Thanks,
Jeroen

Most try and keep the machines .... casino pure.... (as close as possible to how the casinos operate their machines).

Progressive displays are always fun.....
        Large overhead progressive signs
        In machine progressives
IGT progressive behind the pay sticker
Mikohn progressive behind the glass (need special glass) or in the player tracking bar
                Progressive displays in a topper
Toppers......
Some people have procured player tracking card readers that have moving displays and have remounted these in the slots. They then modify the progamming to say welcome to Mikes Pub and Casino or whatever....
Some have mounted drop doors into the stand.
Changing out the button legends to nice new white ones, changing lights to leds. so the legends stay white.
Installing a jackpot bell

Part of the hobby is the casino theme....
I personally roll all of my tokens. I bought about 2000 coin tubes from www.netbankstore.com that were embossed with my casino name (cheap). I also have a coin roller (not so cheap).
Coin cups
Other casino signage
I have about 100 of those pamflets about problem gaming that I have in a nice plexy stand.
These have not done me much good. I call them up and say I have a 6 & a 8 against a 10 showing what should I do.... and they hang up on me.

You can also do other things .... ie hook up the bell output to a relay and trigger lights or other toys.....I was thinking of a confetti cannon but my wife has had other throughts about who would be cleaning this up so I have shyed a bit away from that.

I should add a bell to mine and hang it mounted outside.  I'm normally up until about 2 or 3 in the morning and having one of them go off might just be enough to bug my neighbors. Scratch Head  Hey, they bug me at 7 in the morning, let's return the favor. bust gut laughing

A confetti cannon?  Is that part of the casino theme?  I better check into that. Tongue Out  I wouldn't have to worry about cleaning up the mess.  That's what the wind is for  bust gut laughing bust gut laughing

bust gut laughing bust gut laughing That's just too funny.  applause I just don't think that's what they meant about problem gambling but on the other hand the pamphlets probably aren't specific. bust gut laughing  So what would you do having a 6, 8 and 10 card showing?? Scratch Head

In fact that confetti cannon is a casino feature!
I think it comes with euro millions, that's a theme that we have over here.
It's a linked progressive all over the country, that fires when the big one is hit (about every 6 weeks 1.2 - 1.5 mio euro's)
And all players on that moment get Champaign, so I guess I have to have a mini fridge with champaign standing by LOL

Depends on the count. stir the pot / get cooking
<ADD> But it has to be dam$%d high to stand. Most simple count systems will still tell you to hit all the time.  yes

can the bell output trigger some type of a music player to plat certain tunes on a CD perhaps? This would probably work better with a S2000 since you can have the mechanical bell engage on all pays or handpays only.

You can do that with an S+, too.

As to your question about having it trigger something other than the intended bell, I believe that someone here previously did something like that -- it involved using relays to trigger something once voltage was applied to the line (ie. the bell was attempting to ring).

I'm sure there are others, but here was the post and video of my siren and strobes. How I did it is explained earlier in the thread

The bell is easy to replace with a relay and you can set the S+ to ring on every win or just the top award.

I was also looking to have alternate sounds while the reels are spinning ?
THe reel motors are stepper motors so its not simply a matter of pulling voltage and I didn't want to play with digital logic.

I had an idea of using the spin button. The presence of the light means its ready to spin which would open one relay, and the press would then trigger the event.
The plan would be to turn off reel sounds and then have it play the music I want based on the above trigger.

What I need is a a sound generator something that you can program music into or perhaps a selection of sounds. I looked at a couple of kids toys but the sounds were all pretty much annoying (or at least worse than the default reel sound).

In my pinball thread, where I added some voices to some of the events, I ended up using one of these modules. It can record up to 4 different sounds up to 5 minutes total. It can be programmed via USB with just about any WAV file and can be changed whenever you want. The sound quaility is ok with the built in speaker, but it also has an audio out jack to drive a seperate amp which sounds really good.
