I am sure uniman can answer this one.
Hey how do you get into the belly to change the bulb? I can lift up on it and it comes part way up, I just can't get the bottom to come off. (I did not want to break it)

I need to change the bulb in the top glass too. How do you get that open? (Never Mind on that one..I got it to open) That one was easy, just push up on the bar and it comes open.

My Uni says it is a Y 89, have you seen any manuals out there for this machine. (Hell I don't even know what year it was made in)

Thanks for the help!

there are 4 screws in a row just below the the level of the coin mechanism. the 2 outer screws must be removed and the 2 inner screws must be loosend. then lift up and out on the glass frame. i did find that in the book from ebay. have fun.

and according to what i read the 89 is not the model number even though it says that on the plate, it is the year it was made. to get the model number for that machine you must use the self test method.

Oh man, I was in high hopes that this machine would let you hear reel sounds, when you press the spin button. The only time I get to hear the wonder casino sound is when symbols line up and I am getting paid.
I looked in the manual to see if there was a setting for the chines to play when the reels are spinning.

O well I guess I can't have it all. LOL!
Thanks

Dan, you missed a screw. There are four as SilentService stated.
And yes, Y 89 is the year made.

Hahahah!!! You are still the world leader of the Uni's Uniman.
Funny thing is, I was missing the same screw that he did not mark.

So do the Uni's not have any sound when the reels are spinning? I guess I should be happy that I have a good working Uni, that only needs a door lock and JP lock.

Oh I replaced the bulb in the belly and it did not work, I guess that part is messed up too. Other than that it's all good.

Thanks guys, you are all a BIG help!

No I did not replace them. I tried to unscrew one of them, but I stopped. I did not want to break anything.
I not sure how to take them out. I bet I just unscrew them.

How much do them 2 little starters cost?

Thanks!

Twist them 1/4 turn to the left (Counter Clockwise) they are about a buck each at hardware store, make sure you put the right size (FS-2 FS-5) in place, ou FS U will work in either, try one from another position that lights now

Universal made several versions of sound chips. The newest versions have reel spin sound. But here's the catch, the games machine chip must be compatible with the sound chip used. Now here's another catch, there is no compaibilty chart or list to go by. I've learned through trial and error, and error, and error!
I'll check my lists and see what's available.

The starters that were in the Uni say NEC  FG-1P 15-30W
NEC FG-7P 4-10W.

I found the starters at Homedepot for $1.99 (2 in the pack)
Now I just need to find a door lock and JP lock for the Uni and I will be good to go.

Thanks!
