Hey, new guy here.  Just wondering if anyone knows an effective (time and cost) way of buffing out scratches in touchscreens.  17" curved.

Welcome to New Life Games vinny! applause

Is it made of some type of clear plastic?
If so, it will be nearly impossible I'm afraid to get the scratches out....
I remember a long time ago there was some company that claimed
to have some type of stuff that could fix scratches on records...
Phono records were made of a certain type of plastic and the stuff basically filled scratches...
but in doing so...lol...also made the needle give a flat note for a micro second...
at least you could play the record without it skipping and
repeating the same groove over and over... rotflmao

Check back though, someone might know of a product that may work to help you.... yes

touch screens are usually made of laminated glass, the glass surface is quite durable, I wonder if a glass shop has some sort of glass polishing compound.

Thanks,
Wayne

I was just asked if I am sure the touch screen is glass. I am sure the surface is glass on 3M touch screens and the others I have seen.  There may be some cheap plastic ones out there but I haven't come across them.  A touch screen is an overlay that tapes to the front of a monitor tube or lcd and connects to a controller.

Here are some cleaning instructions from the 3m site.

 Touch screen care and cleaning

The touch screen requires very little maintenance. 3M Touch Systems recommends that you periodically clean the glass touch screen surface.

CAUTION: To avoid the potentially hazardous situations associated with the use of isopropyl alcohol which may result in minor or moderate injury or property damage: Follow all instructions and recommendations in the manufacturer's Material Safety Data Sheet and product label.

Typically, an isopropyl alcohol and water solution ratio of 50:50 is the best cleaning agent for your touch screen. You can also use straight isopropyl alcohol. In addition, 3M Touch Screen Cleaner CL680 has been tested and approved for this use. Be sure to follow solvent manufacturer's precautions and directions for use when using any solvents.

It is important to avoid using any corrosive chemicals on the touch screen. Do not use any vinegar based solutions.

Always dampen the cloth and then clean the screen. Be sure to spray the cleaning liquid onto the cloth, not the screen, so that drips do not seep inside the display or stain the bezel.

Apply the cleaner with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use using gritty cloths.

Thanks,
Wayne

Thanks for the help guys. The touchscreen is definately glass.  The curved are becoming more difficult to find with all of the lcd's.  I was just hoping to find some miracle cure that would prolong their lives.  I'll try some auto shops.
