I picked up a Bally Double Blazing 7. Model # is S63U3WT-10 manufactured in 6/94. It has a DBV. All is working OK.
I don't know the first thing about any of the switches and buttons, Test button, Coin Mech switch, PSEUDO Coin and the Reset buttons.
How do you make it pay out in nickles vs. credits? The coin/credit button doesn't seem to do anything.
My wife was playing it and the 5 amp breaker popped out on it. It wasn't happy until we loaded it up with nickles and it payed out 120 of them.
Is there a way to adjust the payout %?
I've been told this a 5500 machine. Not sure what that means either.
Is there a place to find a manual for this machine?

Do you have any pictures?  We can tell you if it's a 5500 or a 6000.  That is the model of the slot machine.  Think of it like the year of a car. Bally came out with the 5000 model. Then a few years later a 5500 and so on.   Those buttons do various things when working on a slot.  The Pseudo for example simulates a coin going into the machine.  You can press that and a credit will appear. 

Now when you talk about credits -  when you hit - anything - do coins come out every time ?  or do you just win and accumulate credits ?

Welcome to the site, fellow newbie!  Don't be afraid to get really friendly with the search button as most of your answers are already here.  After that, the people here are very helpful and charitable with their time and knowledge.  I've only been here a short time and I've learned a ton.  Also, be prepared to be cautious but courageous on fixing or changing that machine of yours, and be ready to pay a few bucks for the things you break!  But we'll help you keep it on the rails.  Good luck!

Thanks for encouragement Abe. I found out with one of my pinball machines that to many beers will cost you a fliptronics board while changing flipper coils. LOL

That's a Bally 5500.  An you say when you press the cash/credit button there is no change in behavior?  Does the light go on and off for that button when you press it?  (even though the bulb may be out)

That's a Bally S5500 (the S is for System).  This thread really should be in the Bally section, but..   Do you have a multi meter?  You could test the cash out switch to see if it's good, I've had a few bad ones in the past.  You could also swap it with the change/service switch for now if it's bad.  There are sometimes manuals in the submit files section which has a link near the top of the page.

Or it could be unhooked as well to keep others from using the cash out button.
If that is the case, I am surprised it was not setup for credits.
I have one of mine unhooked partly to keep the meanagers from cashing out and having to come refill it.

In order to change the payback percentage, the personality chips(U18 and U20) would need to be changed.  As for the breaker popping, there's a good chance your power supply has some caps that are on their way out.  The older Bally power supplies have some issues with inferior quality caps.   Power supplies are faily inexpensive though, and I wouldn't worry unless it begins blowing breakers.

OK.......The little switch was disconnected from the bigger switch. Cashes out ok now. The bulb seems to be out. What size bulbs do these machines take?

Is there a good place to buy replacement buttons? Everything plastic in this machine is brittle!

I to read them all,  but remember none. Mike the light bulb is a 6.3 volt, so forget Pep Boys, One of the vendors above can sell you what you need.  But WARNING the only thing the Canadian ( a 69 mopar ) will send you is free, up to date, correct,  information. I think it's a border thing, he wants to keep all the parts up north, but try to make all of us to the south as smart as he is !! Buzz

Thanks, Buzz.  I do like to sell locally but in the unlikely case that nobody else has something I have which sombody needs, would likely make an exception.  There are so many more sources in the U.S. that this shouldn't happen very often.  the border charges also make it more cose effective to purchase in the country you live in.

The 49th parallel usually adds $49.00 to each purchase no matter how small. It really sucks.
