My slot is an E-Series 2000 with a 1000 series CPU and a 2000 series Hopper board. This is a 3 reel machine.
My Ram board had a leaky 3.6volt battery and after I replaced the Ni-Cad and fixed some corroded pins the slot does not complete the built-in initial test but displays "2." on the 2000 series meter display in the 5th digit location. In my service manual (written by Marshall Fey) it talks about power up malfunction codes and "2" being a Ram failure mode #1 (safe) what ever that means? Occasionally if I recycle power (because the reset switch no longer works) it will show the 2 in the 2nd digit location and the manual indicates it to be in the 1st. This indicates a M chip failure and 2 being "M2". Do any of you know how I should interpret this and what I need or should do to fix the right problem? Duh!
Chip Version is 755-43=M1 and -44 as M2

the ram board may still be your problem - the edge connectors go bad - also check the cmos (5101s).

Thanks Barry! appreciate your help, Do you know where any complete boards could be purchased or is it one of those build it back up scenarios?
