Hi all,
What are some tell tale signs of a mainboard going bad (the board that holds the game and reel chip)? I'm having some really weird issues with a customers machine and it's driving me nuts. It first wouldn't take 5,10 or 20's...now I finally got that working. A few days later it all of a sudden it started to rank credits up on the credit window and wouldn't stop, the counter was also clicking away. While it was doing this you can't do anything..put money in or play a game. I tried turning it off, reseating the board, taking power completely off the unit and nothing. I got out the clear and set chips to see if that would work and it didn't help. I'm stuck at the 61-1 and can't get it to respond no matter what I do....anybody have any ideas?
Thanks for any help,
Steve

Steve you have two threads going now. one on a S+ and one on a S+ slant top. I might be wrong but sounds like the same machine.  That said on a slant top all doors must be closed to clear a 61-1   Close the lower door and observe that the upper latch rotates CCW so it doesn't block the optics. close upper door and 61-1 should clear.   I have a PE+ slant top and at one time if you hit the top solid ( not real hard ) it would add credits. I moved all the wiring around and it doesn't do it any more, I kind of wish it would screw up again didn't need any money to play thump it once and play away if run out of credits just thump it again.

I'm going to check the optics on the machine this week to see if I can find out what's causing the issues. I'm also going to order another game chip just to have for testing purpose as well. I'm hoping I can get this stupid code cleared and move on to some other machines that my customer has which need some work.

See my reply in your other thread for a cheap solution for door optics.
