A man wants to sell me this BIG BERTHA slot machine , he owes me some money. but I don't know what it is worth, he says it works.  I figure I would ask here.

Most people consider those a liability and pay people to take them away...... rotflmao

The fact that it works and is logo ed with Ceasars might make it less so.

Before you consider it I would:
a. Make sure he is prepared to deliver it.....
b. Make sure you have the space to accomodate it.... personally I would rather use the space for 3 slots that I want vs the one I took to settle a debt.
c. If its going down into the basement or the such make sure you work out the logistics of getting it down the stairs, will it fit through the door etc.

Big bertha machines are extremely heavy, be prepared to have a forklift or a bunch of football players to move it.  I prefer the spinning reel Berthas.

What he said ^^. I'm not sure that a video Bertha would be as desireable as one with real reels. After all, the giant spinning reels are the appeal of the machines, aren't they?

I agree about the attraction with the Reels......

I guess with a video version you might have the option of changing games.
With a Bertha "reel" you are not easily able to find alternate games.

Do you know what the guts are ? Fortune 1 ? PE+ etc ? is there a bill validator.....

I would take the guts out and put them in a small custom cabinet and then use the original cabinet for a bar in the garage or something.

I think I would make a concession stand out of it. Gut the inside, put some wheels under it, and hall it to Carnivals and Fairs etc.
Just get inside and sell funnel cakes made to look like poker chips!...every so often holler out " JACKPOT, WINNER, WINNER,
CHICKEN DINNER!" And let that customer have a comp (freebie)!   rotflmao bust gut laughing

That's what I'm talking about. Just add some wheels to it and a hitch, make it into that funnel cake stand or a weinner stand and call out weinners here and become a carnnie, moving from town to town.

Jay,

On the craigs list ad it has a picture of the s/n tag that states it is a "BALLY" BIG BERTHA...... I always thought that the ones that said BIG BERTHA specifically were IGT machines?  Scratch Head I know that people refer to all big machines as Big Berthas, but I thought that "LEGAL" Big Berthas were all IGT. Just thought that I would point out that picture in case you had not seen it. It sure made me curious.

I think IGT called theirs Bertha and Mini-Bertha.. so naturally Bally would skirt around and call it Big Bertha

Universal called their giant machines "Jumbo's", thereby avoiding any comparison to a large german woman.  frying pan frying pan frying pan
