Just wondering if any members here have a silver strike machine or just collect silver strikes. The last time I was in Vegas (March 09) the only place I could find a silver strike machine was at Sam's Town. I am planning on going back in the spring sometime and if anyone knows of  any casino that still has them please let me know....Also I was sad to learn that all the times I went to Laughlin and Bullhead City I missed New Life Gaming  Duh!  ...It will be my first stop on my next trip.

I know The Four Queens (downtown) has a Silver Strike. And the El Cortez had one last year.
I'm sure there are much more out there.

This topic sparked my curiosity. Found there is a Silver Striker's online club.
Also found out the Silver Strike machines are almost gone!
Here is a list of Vegas casino's with strike machines;

And here is the Silver Strike Club site;

Yeah, unfortunately the Silver Strikes machines have gone out of style just like coin out machines.  The list is pretty accurate as I just had a friend come from a Vegas trip looking for them.  He was fortunate to be there when the Palms had their $200 strikes.  The big disappointment now is that the "Silver Strikes" are now clads (silver plated) so you don't even the silver content on them anymore.  Having a Silver Strike machine at home would be Nirvana for me (almost as good as having a WOF 3 reel machine).  But those things are HUGE!!!

I'm told at the Palms you can still get some Silver content strikes as they have some of the older strikes mixed in with new ones (which are ALL clad, except for the red caps).  So if you get one that says .999 silver, don't trade it in.  Here's a picture of the $200 strike next to the regular $10 strike and a quarter for comparison.  I bought one of his $200 strikes for $225.00,  a bargain if you ask me, as the only way to get these is to trade in 20 of the $10 tokens.  You cannot buy them at the cage, you must play and trade 20 $10 tokens to get the $200 one.

Rick,

Sounds like you hit the jackpot even without playing the game!  propeller applause propeller

Next time I am in Reno/Sparks I will have to see if any of the machines are still there?

Yes, it's my first and only one.  Wish I could have played for it, as you said it's not the same.  But getting one of these is pretty difficult for me as these are only available during certain times of the year, and I've never been to Vegas during those specific times.  Usually the 4 Queens has a Silver Strikers slot tournament during the 3rd week of January, and I just can't make it during that time due to grown up duties.  Maybe when I retire and my kid is off the nest, hopefully the event will still be around then.

My Wife and I just returned from Vegas, and stayed at the four queens on Fremont st. They had 3 Silver strike machines which I played and came away with 9 strikes! We also went to ElCortez for the first time ever, and didn't see any Silver Strike machines there, but they could have been hiding somewhere where we didn't go in the casino.

That $200 silver strike is big! Never seen one before.
I have two $10 strikes, one from The El Cortez I got got in 2007, and last winter I got the red capsule strike from Sam's Town.
I'm told the red capsule indicates limited mintage.

Silver Strike was an IGT participation game, and as far as I know there are NONE on the after-market. If anyone knows different drop me a line, as I've had a would-be-buyer bugging the hell out of me for several years. There's a lively market in the tokens. Incidentally, back in the day, the business model was that tokens that cost IGT about $3 were sold to the casinos for $6 and passed off to punters at $10 face-value. The rise in silver prices has obviously made that scam less profitable.

I read that the remaining Silver Strike machines were purchased by the casino's as IGT no longer wants to supply them. So those few machines should make it to the public when these casino's unload them in the future.

I vaguely recall seeing a parts Silver Strike machine for sale on the Las Vegas Craigslist a long time ago (about two years ago, if memory serves).  I've not seen one for sale in any shape or form since.  The closest thing I have is a Silver Strike oval insert for the standard IGT topper.
