Hi all,
 I'm trying to get a IGT upright working for a customer and the issue is that the machine will not reset. Basically, you power it on and the only thing that you see are the flouresent lights in the top and bottom. Nothing else seems to  work. I checked the fuses (what I could find) they all looked good and he orginally thought it was the door optics, so I installed a new set and still nothing. I'll attach a picture of what the machines looks like and if anybody has any ideas...I'd appreciate the help. I also tried reseating the mainboard and that didn't do anything either.

Regarding your problem, it sure sounds like a power issue to me. If not fuses, then the PS, or the infamous Molex power connector on the mother board. I'd check that connector first, and then get out a DVM and check the output voltages.

Yea, after reading through some more threads, I'm thinking that could be. I'll check the connector and then the voltages...where do you go to tests those voltages? Just to the connectors? If so, does anyone have the pin outs and what voltages I should be seeing on those pins?

Hello!

The easiest way to see if the MPU board is getting power is to see if the reels feel "stiff" when the machine is powered on.  If they feel loose just like when the machine is off - then the MPU is not getting power.

Thanks, I'll be giving this a shot next time I go over his place to work on the machines. So, if the MPU isn't getting power, I suppose it's either the power supply, or a fuse in the supply. Any idea what a new supply cost?

I have had this problem on one of my machines numerous times.

The stiff (or not stiff) reels are your give away.

If its not stiff then its either a fuse or likely the center molex on the mother board.

Pull the fuses, check with a multi-meter visual inspections are not reliable with these kinds of fuses.
If all the fuses are good.

Pull the hopper out.

On the motherboard (not the removeable MPU board) but the small board that is directly behind the hopper.
There are a series of molexes that are connected to it. The big one in the middle is the one that has all the power connectors.
Remove this - Use a pen knife and/or a white eraser and clean the pins as best you can.

Look at the molex and look for signs of scortching. Ideally you should replace this connector but as noted I have had this happen a few times and you can usually get away with cleaning it up. I like to use a bit of contact spray and I have a little wire brush used for cleaning the ends of pipes. Reseat the connector. Turn on.

The reels should go stiff and the 25c (or other denonmination sticker) light should go on.

If this does not happen - leave the power on and wiggle that connector up and down being careful to keep the fingers away from any 1/2 exposed pins.

Here is a picture of the plug on the Mother board Jay was describing. It show the plug pulled and turned around to see the burnt spot.
If after cleanning the pins it still don't work, you may have to replace this short harness.

Any of the venders above should have one, there only about 6" long so it should not cost much.
