As Mark "Stayouttadabunker" is one of the most helpful and prominant posters here on NLG...I thought this would make a fun post of events over the past couple of days.

Mark was in the market for a couple of new machines so of course we were happy to fill the order.  I will let him decide to post pictures of what he got.  Mark drove 20 hours round trip to pick up 2 nice machines and we offered him a room for the night.  We had a great night of tinkering, playing slots, and getting fat on pizza.  And Mark, thanks for the tips on soldering as we were able to repair a S2000 board.

On a personal note, it was really nice to finally meet you in person....Cathy and I really enjoyed your company.  It was nice to hear about your family, your history, and the education on your heritage.

AND NOW FOR SOME FUN PHOTOS AND "FAMOUS QUOTES".....AND THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION "CAN YOU FIT 2 MACHINES INTO A SUBARU SEDAN"

MARK SAYS "OH MAN I AM SOOOOO UNLUCKY...DOES THIS MACHINE EVER HIT?"

Oh, I have had them back together like two days later...
pictures in the next few days...
The S+ is working great!

I have a problem with the S2000 though...
I cannot get the "Call Attendent" message and "Door Closure B" to go away for the life of me... banghead
It's almost as if the door optics aren't working... Scratch Head 3
Coins are dropping thru into the tray....arghhh!  lol
but when I view the door emitter with a video camera - I see a faint flashing going on in there.
It seems okay...should there be any lights on the MPU cage above the test switch?
I don't have any lights on except for the green coin comparitor light.
Are S+ emitter optics the same "wattage" as an S2000 door emitter?
I'm awaiting certain blanks from mouser to make a clear chip so I can perform a ram clear...
You think I'm going in the right direction? Scratch Head 2

Just a guess since I do not YET own an S2000 but ... Does the Bill Validator have a door switch connection in place?  If that switch is open, I am guessing you may get a door open error.

Congrats on your new slots!  applause applause applause

Mark,

If I remember correctly, that is the machine that we took the door off completely.  There are a couple things here we need to check here.  It's possible that the door optic is just slightly out of alignment giving you the door open error.

You don't need to do a Key 17 or anything dramatic like that...the machine is cleared and running as you saw when you played it that night you came to pick it up.  Don't open a bigger can of worms here than you need to....LOL.

Let's do this:

1)   Try this test with the machine on and the door latch push down hard and fully all the way down (make sure the door is fully closed and aligned tight at the top of the door when you do this).  If you are getting your door open error at that point (which you are) then take the hammer and just tap up lightly and in small increments watching the LED display at the same time.  One or two taps (light taps - trying to move it up fractions of a milimeter) up might clear it and tell you that it is slightly out of alignment.  Let me know the results....the door optic itself could also just be going bad and I can send a new one no problem.

2)   Open the door to the cash can and check the door switch...make sure door is closing well.  Option....just cut the 2 wires and join them and wrap with electrical tape.

3)  Open the belly glass door and look in the upper left hand corner.  Tell me which condition you have....picture one or picture two below:

Jim

Also,

For future reference....if the error codes read as follows.....

Cash Can door not closed or wires not connected will give you a code "CALL ATTENDANT - DOOR OPEN B - CLOSURE M"

Main door not closed (or optic out of alignment) will give you "CLOSURE B - DOOR OPEN M"

Thank ya...I did check the two green wires that I believe that were at one time for that are indeed tied up together down there.
And, there's no belly door switch nor any noticeably loose nor any hanging/hidden wires.
It looks like "picture 1 "
As far as cash can switch open...there's none. No switch...nada.
2 green wires are tied together.

I tried the hammer tapping upwards and downwards and all over...lol

So I physically removed the optics from both the door and cabinet and
lined them up by hand to eliminate door optics alignment error for now.
Puzzles, puzzles, I'm puzzled...lol

Should the coin mech LED be green? On? like it is?
Maybe it's a coin-mech-acceptance-adjustment-too-strict problem?

Finally, the error I'm getting is:
"CALL ATTENDANT - CLOSURE B"

Hello!

That is odd.  Normally, with the door open, the green light on the comparitor would be OFF...not on - so I wonder if you have an error you just can't clear because the machine doesn't see you opening the door.  Can't clear an error unless you open the door.  Maybe try taking the cash can wires that are spliced together and un-splice them for a moment to see if the comparitor light goes off.  On my S2000 machines, if the door is open, that light is off....follow?

Hello!

Also, even if you don't have a belly door switch in the upper left corner, you should see green wires just like the cash can ones that are spliced together.  At least it's always been that way on any machine I've had - if there is no switch, there are spliced wires....
