I acquired, (for free!), an IGT RWB slant top reel machine. I managed to clear a couple coin hopper error codes, but, I still can't get the machine to function properly. The white light on the tower stays lit no matter what I do to clear it. Upon powering up, I get a flashing "263" then "10" on my credits display. The machine does not reset with key, power down or test switch. I'm not sure if this is an M series or not. It has a date of 1/95 and model#GC36CPI.  Any help would be appreciated!   Help

95' would probably make this an S+
Did you try pressing the Change Light on the button deck to get the light to turn off.
Some pics of the MPU board would help.

Most likely the 263 10 is 263 coins paid 10 coins won on last game

Silly question, but is the "Insert Coins" light lit up with the door closed, and have you tried dropping a coin in?  (I think it's an S+, too.)

Not silly at all. So far the evidence is that the machine is functioning normally. The display is indicating that the last payout was 10 coins and the cashout was 263, and the candle light indicates that the door was previously opened, a tilt condition that won't clear until one complete game is played. It sounds like the machine is ready to play. propeller

Yes, I tried dropping coins in and the bill collector as well, no luck in either case. No insert coin light lit.
Thanks

No, the coins do not register, they just pass straight thru to the tray. I'll try the slam test when I get off work. Thanks

That's funny you say that. The original error was a coin hopper error, turns out someone put a Susan B. Anthony dollar coin in the machine and it was jammed in the coin chute! I tried changing out the quarter in the coin comparater but still no difference. The bill validator keeps spitting the bills back out. I've tried various denominations and series bills to no avail.
Thanks

Can you please post a picture of your machine so we know what kind of machine you're working on?

Also, are you saying that the bill validator is attempting to accept the bill?  If so, it would seem that the machine is ready to play.  Try using a $1 bill in good condition in the acceptor.  Unless the machine was set to be a higher denomination than $1, it should accept the bill, post (a) credit(s), and stack the bill.

Make sure the cabinet door is on and latched too, that prevents the game from seeing the main door closed because the main door won't latch without the bottom panel on

you have a S+ machine      I never saw a S slant top    It sounds as if the machine is ready to play, if it wasn't you would never get it to attempt to even try to accept a dollar bill,  so I guess the optics must be good. If it were in a door open state the bill acceptor would never come on line.  Open your machine, latch the top in place and find the coin comparator. down in the left most cornor of the coin in optics is a little white switch, if your game is not in a tilt mode or payout mode, when you press this button you should be able to establish credits and play the game. If this works then your problem is in the coin comparator or its associated wiring. check the plug to the cc-16 make sure all the wires are still attached, this was probably the weakest point of the S+ series.

Hope this helps

Jim

P.S.  the 25 cent denom. lamp has power to it all the time so you can use this to test all your other "86 bulbs
