rgb 1401

I have a RGB monitor that has what looks like a resistor that has popped. I am just not sure if that is what it is. It has one red stripe and two gold strips. I need to know what it is so I can get another one if any one could help me.

A little more info would help, model, where is the resistor etc

it is a rgb model #1401 the resistor is marked on the board as overload protector. it has brown, red, yellow, and gold. It was in pieces nd I found them and got the colors.

Ok I have a rgb 1401 monitor. I replced a blown resistor and I have a black screen. I can se the tube glowing in the back, what should I be looking for?

It's a 1.2 Ohm "over current" resistor, 3 Watt metal film is the best substitute. If your board has the TO3 C1050 and D904 transistors on the heat sink check for one of them being shorted from collector to emitter. I just went through a two day PITA repair on one of these older boards and after blowing two C1050 transistors and two of those resistors found the plastic spacers under the TO3 transistor and around the mounting lugs had crumbled to plastic dust and with all of the lights in the shop off saw a ZAP of conductivity between the TO3 case and the heatsink was the problem. Putting in FOUR new plastic insulators and raising the heatsink off of the board and cleaning all of the GUNK off of the board, under the heatsink, fixed the problem.

Still can't get the horizontal to sync though - can see the horz tear of cards on the screen but replacing the 741222, the 555 and the horz PRA and doing a complete cap job and replacing the interface board a couple dozen times still won't get me proper horz sync to lock in the picture.

Don't suppose anyone knows a solution to this one?

I've got one with no vert, and it get's a crackle/popping sound. Are there schematics for these?

You are best to start your own thread rather than hijacking another.
I assume you mean a Cetronixs 1401 ?
If so you may want to check the upload a new file area.

The crackling i usually a shot highvoltage transistor and the power supply is repeadly going through its starter cycle of charging up the capacitors.
Or you have some bad caps.
