Just picked up a Double Double Bonus Poker Machine. Stickers inside say March '94. It was all well and good, then it said 'low battery.' After a few attempts to get it to work (I mean simply turning it off and on over a two day period) I decided I needed a NEW  BATTERY 'genious.' At this point, I am waiting on the battery but the screen says "CMOS DATA." AHHHH What is that mean. The other thing I noticed is that when I press the little white button the fonts in the menus are all screwed up. I think I might have hurt the machine. What does CMOS DATA mean? Please help?

Looks like Jay already helped you in the other thread, but once you've replaced the battery and you get that message, press and hold the white self-test button for a few seconds -- you should hear a small "ding" from the speaker.  At that point, close all of the doors (the "door open" message should go away), and give the Jackpot Reset key a turn.

Thank you for the advice. Do you think the text in the stats menu that previously got all jumbled up and unreadable will also be corrected with the new battery?

Battery may fix it, although you may need to clear it also

On a PE+ the cmos typically is self correcting, its not usually as clean on a S+ --- the common fault is you get stuck with a 61 error that won't go away.
You also get corrupted CMOS when you change out major revisions of game chips or go from a standard board on a PE+ to a Superboard.

If you have a bill validator you WILL require a SET chip to re-enable it, and if you are busy buying a SET chip get a Clear chip also...
