I have picked up a bally 5500 plum crazy been working great but when I put a coin in, it drops to the coin tray and does not read coin in.
I can open door and manually press pseudo coin and it functions fine with the door open .
so I bought another working slot machine and started swapping parts ,I narrowed it down to the coin circuit board
under the coin comparitor ,but now that one stopped working after 1 day they both do the same thing now not registering coins,is there something else wrong?is this a common problem ?
any ideas would be very helpfull
thanks

A belated welcome to NLG imapacratt2.  wave

The circuit that you are referring to is the optics board. Did the second board fail after you put it into the first machine?
(Yes, this is a shameless bump. yes)

Make sure that the "coin mech" toggle switch is turned on on the face of the MPU board tray as the machine will not take coins if this switch is off. Then, with the door open, press the little white button on the coin optics board (the board below the coin comparitor) and see if you can register coins that way. If you can then the optic board is most likely okay.

If you've determined that both boards have failed when put it into the first machine, there may be something else causing the part to fail that you will need to track down before putting another board in the machine.

One more thought. Bally ProSlots seem to have a habit of simply failing to take coins every so often. I don't know why. When it happens to mine I end up pressing the reset button several times, turning the coin mech switch off and on, and turning the machine off and on, etc. until it starts working again. If anyone has an explanation of why this happens or a better way to correct the problem when it does, please post. propeller
