In one of our progressive in live game had a computer system to manage. This system had windows xp installed, but somehow the programs in startup menu and everything else were disabled by some program. All you can access was the program for the progressive. So this way noone can play around with the system fro anything else, such as internet. Does any one know about a such program. Would be very usefull for me.

There are programs. One is called Watch Dog.

It is just as easy to create a new user, and use the Control panel to allow or disallow access to various programs. Secondly google on how to auto-logon for XP - there are a couple of registry entries that you need to modify - this way when the computer boots it will log right in as the user and start the program.

XP Pro doesn't have as much control as Windows Server, so you would probably need a program such as Jay described to lock down the system as tightly as you suggest. Windows Server has many more options in the policy and permissions setup that can do what you desire without external programs. The restrictions/permissions are generally assigned to groups, and then users are assigned to groups to gain their permissions or restrictions. It is not good practice to assign permissions directly to users. XP Pro will do some of this, however. If you have XP home you're SOL.
