I was wondering -  I saw some bluebirds with digital games and I saw bluebirds with 5 reels.   Has anyone converted one to the other?  Is it even possible?

Wayne if that's true it would be awesome.  To have a game that you could put reels in, then switch to video and then switch back would amazing.  Like one box that does it all.

I'm under the impression that the interior cabinet is essentially the same. You replace the reel shelf and the door for the conversion, plus you'd need to make a whole for the slot handle if you want one.  The MPU board is also different, but that's contained in a whole assembly which replaces the other one.

Actually a couple of these sold on Ebay about a year ago from "Pinbuy".  They were originally Bluebird reel type machines and converted to video.  The bad news is that the reel version of the BB is the same price essentially as the video one....so it's not like comparing a S2000 to an AVP pricewise.

That's really great news!  I'd suspect it would be nearly impossible for us to do a conversion because the machines are so new.
I didn't think the cost for a reel bluebird would be different from a video unit.     The casinos on the east coast are ghost towns -  I drove to PA and I could have played any machine on Columbus Day weekend!!!   I fear the bluebirds are going to remain in the casinos for some time to come.

On a side note I was in Sands PA and they have all bluebird2 cabinets.   I personally don't like them as much as the original bluebird.

Cabinets are the same, however it's a conversion that you dont go back and forth as there is a lot involved in making the change.   No hole to drill either as all cabinets have the cutout.

However prices on the BB are coming down and over the next 6 months they will be well under 5K for sale.   So for sometime it was a break even to convert to video but not so today.
