Hi,
I have this error come up for reel 1, I have changed reels and it follows. I check connections and it will work for awhile but then error 41. Should I just replace thereel reader or?
Do reel readers work sometimes and not other times or do they just stop working? Is there a way to check them or is it best just to replace them once they start acting up?

Check you have nothing touching the reel drum as it spins, usually a wire or part of wiring harness hanging down behind the reel. If you have a spare CPU pcb,  change it out to make sure that the fault is not the board. Do you mean also that when you swop reel do you mean you put reel 1 in reel 2 position ??

See attachment for pcb testing and also suspect components linked with the reel part of circuitry.

Yes, when I swap 1 & 2 reels it the says error 42. If I work on the male connectors it seems to work for awhile then error.

If the error moves with the reel position 41,42,43   try and clean the optic on the side otherwise it might be time to start shopping for a reel mech

The voltage across pins 8 and 9 of reel molex plug on reels 1,2 & 3 is 9.8

I am sorry for my ingnorence but are there optics on the side or are they inclosed? I will clean and check. Also you say shop for reel mech does that mean replace reel reader? Or?

Ok here is what I did and is working so far. I took the reel reader from reel 1 and switched it with reel 2 with no error's. I will see if this will last and will keep you posted. My guess is it was in the connectors and when I switched them it made proper contact after I replugged them in. Thanks for all your help and will let you know if it errors again.

Well that didn't last long, now error 42 so I am just going to replace the reel reader. I'll keep you posted.

There must of been a bad wire in the stepper motor or an optic going bad...
