Hi there,

i am new here - the forum is so big i hope thats the right section to post my questions.
I collect European gambling machines – now i have 5 – in a few days comes number six a vintage pachinko – 1 place is free for a casino slotmachine.
A user from pachitalk sends me to newlifegames ->
"The people are a wealth of knowledge and really enjoy the hobby and always are willing to help. "
Well here are my questions:

I want to buy a Slot from IGT for home use but need some informations before.
Can someone tell me the main differences between those technics?
IGT S-Plus Reel Slots
IGT S2000 Vision Ready Reel Slots
IGT S2000 Reel Slots

A coin comperator is always in the machine, true? Which technik/Modells have a coin comperator?

All these machines payout tokens/money?

If i buy such a machine i can play at home as long as i like or are there some things i had to watch for? I heard of battery change, by which technik ists easier – how long does such a battery life?

Maybe some guys of u can post some links where i can see the gameplay of these machines - i am interested for the sound between the differend technics.

I came from Austria so i need a 230V power supply - i think it should possible to change the transformator - some one here did it before?

Means Vision Ready that u can connect the Slot with others to a multi-jackpot or does it mean something else?

Is S-Plus or S-2000 the newer technik?

How does the technican in the casino rest the win if u get one which is over the payout of the machine - did i need a key or a card for that or is a reset button in the machine?

Over the reels – left and right - are these the speakers – just see this by the S2000 technik?

At least, thx for the help and any tipps u give me before i buy the wrong machine. Maybe u know a good shop where i can buy such slots and which also delivers to Europe/Austria.

S-plus machines came prior to S2000's and are more limited especially when it comes sound and video enhancement abilities.  S2000 Reel Slots and Vision Ready S2000's are essentially the same machine with the difference being that Vision Ready has an additional hole on the deck for a button that can be added.  A Vision S2000 is one that adds an LCD bonus game to the top box, see the video example below.  Most S2000's machines you find on the market are Vision ready although I do have a couple of standard S2000's in my stock.

No, you do not have to make use of a comparator unless you want to use coins.  In the case of a ticket only machine, it may accept bills and pay tickets only if that is what you want.  The coin head, bracket, optics, coin chute, and comparator can all be removed from the machine.  This is accomplished by adding a looped Molex to the end of the harness where you would normally plug in the comparator and optic.  This essentially, tricks the MPU into thinking one is attached so that the machine will function.

If the machine is left on at all times, you will not need a battery ever…or at least a long time.  The battery is easy to change out and should not be a major issue for you.

I good source would be YouTube .com.  Just do a search “S2000 slot machines” and you will see plenty of examples.

I am sure conversions are available as there are many S2000 machines in the Euro casinos.

In the event of a jackpot lock up, you simple open the door and turn the jackpot key on the side of the machine.  The machine will reset and you can continue to try and hit the jackpot again…LOL.

Correct, S2000 utilize enhanced stereo sound in most of its game titles.

Shipment to Europe is possible, however I would caution you that the last time I priced a delivery to the UK, the price ran in the US $800 range.  Although given the exchange rate that may be pocket change to you.

Good luck.

I would think there's import restrictions on gaming equipment to Europe?

I don't know about import restrictions into the EU but I do know there are no restrictions for shipping machines to the US from the EU.  The Netherlands and Belgium are big time gambling countries and IGT are a bundance.

thx for the fast and proffessional answers!
Well so i think that i buy a S2000 technik machine
what i want is a 3 reels coin payout machine, just want to play the machine with tokens - > how many i need? how many have place in the hopper? about 500 pieces?

When u change the battery you dont have to make a backup form some chips? Or initialising the machine after the change? Just replace and game on?
I ask cause i dont want to have a big problem in about 5-10 years.

 reels hit 7's
If someone reads this who can deliver and ship IGT slot to Europe -> PN, links to shops, mails everything is welcome!

thx again
^^ you can continue to try and hit the jackpot again…LOL ^^

I was referring to importing gaming machines to individuals and having them clear customs.  I know here if Floriduh, it would never clear unless you had a gaming license of some kind.

As far as S2000's, if the battery goes you just need to setup the game again.  You need what is called a key chip (readily available) and you should be good to go.  Also as you will come to find out, you can buy game kits for an S2000 and change the theme of the game to whatever you purchase.  If you invest enough money, you could even change the machine from a 3 to a 4 or even a 5 reel (though a 5 reel machine can get expensive in buying the correct parts for it).

The S2000's use eproms for program and reel data (information on the payouts and reel combinations) and some use IGT proprietary Simms (like the ones for computers but IGT proprietary) for the sound. The programs are not erased in any way due to power failures relating to batteries, etc.

500 to 1000 tokens is more than enough for most people.  Another option you might consider is what I like to do is setting up a "partial pay".  What this means is that when you cash out, only a certain number of coins will go from the hopper to the tray, maybe 50, or whatever you want.  The rest of the cash out goes to the printed ticket.  The positives of this set up is that one, you only have to keep a few hundred tokens in your hopper, and two, when you have friends over, if they hit a nice jackpot, then they have a ticket to take with them as a souvenir.

A back up of the main SB chip is a good idea, but not necessary for a battery change.  When you do change the battery, you will need to do a clear and key set up.  Many dealers will provide these 097 clear and Key 17 chips to you for a small fee or I provide them for free with any machine purchase.  The key set up after a battery change is a simple process and is explained on this site under another thread.

good to hear that  applause

What u think is a normal/fair price for a S2000 - 3 reel slot - with 500token and ticketprinter inkl. tickets (how many are on one roll?) and the special key?

There are 200 tickets per pack typically.  They can be purchases for $2 to $3 per pack not including shipping.

Jim, don't forget that quoting him prices from the USA might be a little unfair. Looks like he's either in Austria or Switzerland? Maybe that wholesaler/dealer Delma had mentioned in the other thread might be able to help him.

A little over a year ago I purchased a device that I needed for my business based on recommendations on this site.  In that I was given 3 different manufacturer options with varying prices even though each device did exactly the same thing.  After careful review of each manufacture’s specifications, web site, support and service, I decided on the one that was 3 times the cost of the least expensive option and paid a premium to have it shipped from Germany.  I did so because of the support offered and the ease of use of its software.  In other words, even an idiot like me could use it right out of the box.

After receiving it and making use of it immediately without any support whatsoever due to its quality of design AND after reading a 7 page and over 100 posts on a thread here from others that bought the cheapest manufacturer’s model who no doubt spent countless hours figuring it out…and after talking to many others who still has that device sitting on a shelf because they gave up….needless to say I was pretty happy with my purchase and I am still today.

This gentleman from Austria is looking for and I quote:

Quote
I just want to buy such a machine only once – so it must be perfect – clean – technically reviewed – etc..... I watched your videos on youtube and … puuuhhh – from now i am 100% in a new direction – they are so different .....Those machines are new ....well now i think different.

He is wanting a unique title, possibly a Vision.  He is wanting a spotless machine, fully tested, parts replaced, aesthetically perfect and ready to enjoy when he receives it.  He is wanting the MPU modified so that he can easily change batteries.  He is wanting service after the sale explaining every aspect of how to use the machine.  He is also wanting someone that will give him the time to explain how to modify it’s set up after receipt, provide clear / key chips, and how to properly use them.

Point is....fairness, price, quality and value are all factors in making such a decision and finding the cheapest solution is not always right for everyone.  I am sure like me making a decision on a programmer he will do his own research and decide what is best for him.

Yes, I am comin' back again. Wished I lived closer.......I would pick your brains...........well I am learning about Ballys. Any knowledge I get is positive and I am really thankful for everyone's help here at NLG. This forum is worth it's weight in gold, period. If not for this forum, well, I would have turned into a pachi-punk. Besides, I know more about the towns in OH than in PA! Now PA wants to legalize video poker in bars and restaurants with a max of 5 machines, hope it passes.

Value, service, honesty and quality slot machines from the EU you ask?  Or looking for that "rare" slot machine....go to www.atmo.be.  I've recently imported a "rare" machine from the EU and had no problems in clearing customs.  In fact, your customs broker will tell you the requirements to pre-clear it for you to ensure it will clear upon arrival without any surprises.  I recommend you do this before you actually buy the machine.  In Texas, importing slot machines from the EU....there are no requirements...just pay the freight and duties.  I hope this info will be of help to many of you.

Copied from the Encyclopedia of Nations:

Austria is committed to a program of progressive trade liberalization. As a member of the European Union, non-EU imports are covered by the EU's common tariff policy, the TARIC (integrated tariff). For most manufactured goods, this tariff results in the addition of a 3.5% duty. Import quotas affect other imports such as raw materials or parts. In addition, imports are levied an import value-added tax, which is 20% for everything except food products, for which it is 10%.

So for example if you imported a machine with a declared value of $800, the duty is 23 1/2%, then the amount due would be $188 US.

For those of you in the States that choke at a 23 1/2% tariff, let me tell you that is extremely low.  I import items into Costa Rica on a regular basis and I can tell you that the import duty for that country is 90% of the items value.  So looking at an extreme example, if you were to import a $25,000 vehicle, the duty would be $22,500.  So your shiny new car costing you only $25 K in the States will cost your $47,500 in that country.

India did that for a while. I bought a PAL VCR about 15 years ago for 600 dollars. The only way my friend didn't have to pay 100% duty was to literally smack it around in the dust and present a receipt for 150 dollars showing that it was used. My friend says that India is not as bad anymore (their trying to make in into a good light)
