I have an IGT Dueces Wild sit down video poker machine that was built in 93. I believe it is model 2970. It has an error message that comes up stating "coin in error" or something like that. When I go through the self check I notice that the binary 1-0 is flickering intermitently by the coin in detector b. Is there a way to fix this or bypass it? I am technically savy but don't even know where to start.

Wecome to NLG bauer2100 wave

Have you (with power off) pulled and reseated both ends of the harness from the coin optics to the board and checked the harness for possible issues or loose connections? That's where I would start.

I did try that and it seems to have helped... every once in a while it will still error out. Is there a way to clean the optics?

You can blow some compressed air gently. If they need further cleaning, use a Q-tip slightly dampened with plain water and follow with a dry Q-tip. Don't use alcohol.

However, since you say that reseating or moving the harness fixes the problem and that it intermittently returns, I think that the problem is in the harness or the connection and not the optics themselves. Check the continuity of each wire in the harness with a DVM, make sure that all of the male pins are clean and that the connections are tight.
