Just obtained and am in the process of shopping out (2) two 5-Reel Visions, one is a Mati Hari and the other is a Cleoptra.  Both have a display problem that I believe is software issue and/or a result of the top box BGM or ATA protocols.  On both machines the the issue is exactly the same as seen in the Cleo video below.  The image of the reels on the screen is perfect but the border is like a inversed image and looks blackened out with just sketchy information.  Same for when the "attract" screen comes up...looks inversed or blackened out.  However you can press the "See/Help Pays" button and all panels of information is correct.

I have cleared and keyed both machines using 2 scenarios of software.  Both the original software that came with the machine and I have also used updated chips and ATA as follows and in both cases the image results are exactly the same.

CLEO ORIGINAL:

SB000478
SG000198
VS009GX0
ATA10061
BGM00168
RFA10024

CLEO UPDATED:

SB000478
SG000380
VS011GX1
ATA10065
BGM00168
RFA10024

MATI HARI ORIGINAL:

SB000480
SG000198
VS009GX0
ATA10061
BGM00169
RFA10024

MATI HARI UPDATED:

SB000480
SG000380
VS011GX1
ATA10065
BGM00169
RFA10024

Appreciate any help or insight you can offer.

Jim

Is there a way you can get into the computer's options and
see if there's something in there to "enable" the screen's border graphics?

I can and have selected different "back grounds" with the menu but I beleive that is related to the attract feature.  It was no help.  I believe the problem is related to the graphic file it is accessing on the top box card.  It appears that the "fixed" images are the ones not displaying correctly where as the ones that change with the game are correct as you can see in the video.

Do you have a known working vision you can swap kits with?  If you put in another kit and it works then you know it's the top box software.

These are 2 Visions side by side with different games but repeating the same problem...unlikely this is mechanical but rather a software issue.

The PSR for SG000380 says the ATA must be 10065 and the RFA must be 10025.  You are using RFA 10024.  I had the same problem.  The problem is in the graphics chips in your vision board. What are the dates of those vision displays? I swapped out one of mine to a newer made unit and the problem disappeared.   Also, try updating the RFA to 10025.
