I have a Bally EM model E2242. Sometimes when you pull the handle, the music doesn't start and the wheels don't stop. You need to pull the handle again (sometimes twice) to get it to engage. This seems to happen one out of three pulls. Any help?

Hi lmgreen and welcome to the forum.

Can you elaborate a bit more.  What is the name of your E2242?  My E-2000s don't have sound so help me understand yours.  You insect coins and you pull the handle...   The game does or doesn't do what exactly at each step?

if you play a coin - reels spin and you can pull the handle again without inserting a coin - then you need to check the arm and kick switch on the left side of your reel mechanism.

I have an E-series service manual coming Monday or Tuesday. I will check the arm and kick switch once I get the manual. I also noticed that when the handle goes back up, it seems to stick. Looking inside thae machine, it appears there is a stop that is worn and that is where it is sticking. Anything I should be concerned about. It doesn't take too much force to pull the handle.
Thanks for the replies.

it was in fact, an adjustment on the arm switch.
Thanks for the help. All is alot easier now with the service manual.
