I need some help; my Game King quit working last night.  I installed a new I-game and after the Installation I lost all video and lights on player buttons. Although I do have lights on award, belly, CPU board and side display.  Jim suggested using a spare power supply or monitor which I have neither.  I'm open for any suggestions on how or what is needed to fix my machine.  I do have two S2000 machine but, not sure if power supply would work in the Game King to check if that's the problem. Any Help! Will Be Greatly Appreciated!!! Thanks Freebird4

How did you install the new game?  If you removed and replaced EPROMs chips check to make sure none of the pins got bent during installation.  Also make sure that you didn't plug any of the EPROMs in backwards.

Have you tried changing it back to the game that was working before the change to see if that still works?

From the video perspective do you still have power to the screen....??

I am going to make the assumption you have a tube monitor. Tube TVs/Monitors have a high voltage static charge and when you run your nuckle across the screen you can feel the electricity.
If its LCD turn off the lights in the room and look at the screen with a digital camera it will be bright regardless on how it looks to the naked eye.

If you have no power - start checking fuses with a multi-meter .....

I just got home and checked the LCD with my digital camera, the LCD was dark, I couldn't see anything at all.  But while checking the LCD my machine started the beeping process stage when new software is installed, but I couldn't see anything on the screen. Do you think my LCD when out or could it be another problem?  Thanks for all of the suggestions NLG members.  Freebird4

Don't forget to check the pins at the back of the board to make sure none of them got bent, this happens.  I know someone asked this, but did you try your previous game set back in it?

Here is a pic for reference, not sure where I got it from  Tongue Out
Thanks,
Wayne

Wayne, thanks for your help!! I double checked all pins to make sure none were bend. Everything powers up except the LCD, when machine is first turn on the monitor flashes a little bit of light and then nothing else.
I have noticed lights on back side of LCD are on but nothing else! I now believe my LCD has went out, but not for sure don't know how to check except for connections. Thanks for you help and input!!! Freebird4

It would be pretty unlikely that the LCD display would die at the same time that you changed games, but hey, strange things happen.  Most LCDs have digital controls.  Check and see if yours has a menu button, if so press it.  If it brings up an on screen menu the LCD is most likely good.

I believe no lights on player buttons are due to new game install, which hasn't been completed due to no video unable to complete setup.  Correct me if I'm wrong with new game install must go through setup before button will light up.

look at it this way....
Machine worked until he did a game change.....
problems with ANY of the chips will result in a failure message EXCEPT the base chip!
Cause...
1> base chip is in backwards
2> basechip has a pin bent
3> basechip is bad

A bad Cg card will result in an error
A bad PXL card/chip results in a error message
A bad Basechip results in NOTHING

Hope this helps!

P.S. what did it do when you ran the clear chip?
Run the clear chip again and see if you get anything on the display

I appreciate all of the suggestions!! I have double checked all pins none bend, made sure that all eproms/chips are installled correctly. I did a check with my digital camera with no luck no light seen. Doe's anyone know of a repair shop in Texas that could look at my LCD monitor and check out? Freebird4

I have used a #22 clear chip and also used a #40 neither one did anything.  When I have the key chip in I only see the last three lights on the MPU board, I don't see two led's at all.

Key-22 is for 3902 series MPU..if your Gameking is a 3800 series you should be using a Key-17...
Key-40????
You mean a KEY-45?  WRONG chip....

I use key 40 on them and it works fine.  from my notes, key 40 replaced key 22 and is backwards compatible, it says key 22 won't work with 044 games.

Thanks,
Wayne

I'm pretty sure he said he gets the machine siren noise that comes on when you first boot after a clear, from all posted, it could be a fluke that the lcd died at the same time, this would have been the last thing I looked at, but could happen.

Hello Wayne, yes you are correct!  I get the siren noise after a clear. I have switched out games, Key chips and etc. I still don't get a display no matter what I have tried! Guess my LCD has died!
Anybody know someone in Texas that repairs LCD's? If you do please let me know how to contact them.  Anybody have one for sale?
Thanks, again to all of the great NLG member's that have made suggestions on how to solve my machine problem.   Clap Clap

I just have to get it fixed can't live without my machine!   bawling bawling hissy fit hissy fit

Thanks, Freebird4

I have read this entire thread.  It sure is strange you had a complete working  machine until the game change-- Scratch Head.  I find it hard to believe your lcd took a dump in a game change unless it got spiked somehow.  It is possible but not likely.  Just my 2-cents.  You probably do not need a entire assembly any way sounds like the pwr supply for the lcd if that is indeed the case.
