New to slots and I need help. I bought an old broken down Dazzling diamond deluxe Igt s. It is missing the coin comparator the coin optics and harness along with the solenoid for the handle. That seems to be the least of my problems. Some one has removed the reset key switch and put jumpers in  ,they also wired in a micro-push switch on the Mpu. Have no idea why ? But right now what I am looking for is what wires [color] go to the door switch in which order. Right now only two are hooked up and two are loose. Am i right in that there is no door optics nor battery on the mpu on an old S model. Right now I was able to clean it up a bit and get all the lights on but no readout on the display. I do have about 9 volts on one wire going to it but no readout . The reels also stiffen up when I turn it on. If I could solve the door switch wiring I hope to get the display up, and go on from there. HELP

Hi and welcome to NLG! First things first, the reels are supposed to "stiffen" when power is turned on. You can contact some of the vendors here and they will have the comparitor, harness, and the coin optics. Since the wires are pre-existing for the door optics, you can get those as well. Some one may also make a diagram "magically" appear so that you may hook the optics up properly. I know that stayouttadabunker is the best when it comes to S+'s, he helped me out with a problem a while back and the machine runs right as rain now. To steal a phrase from him, please post pictures of the machine. The more you show us, the more we'll show you!

I will try to post some pics tomorrow. I did not think an S model made in 1985 had optics ?

The older IGT S's put a Test button right on the MPU tray holder.
If you don't have coin-in optics, I'm afraid all you're going to get is a code "21"
when we solve the door switch problem.

This statement you said about the wiring?>>>
"...Right now only two are hooked up and two are loose."

I would like very much to see which wires are hooked up and to what exactly.
Can you try to describe this more clearly and with a bit more details?
Sometimes a good high-resolution photograph says a thousands words!
It's possible your machine did not have door optics but used cherry switches instead.

Finally got around to getting a picture. As you can see the GR & RED wires are on the door switch and the Orange and Blue wires are not attached to anything. Are these door switch wires or handle solenoid wires. Also still no display. This board has a adapter on it that contains the prom chips It says  S to S+ adapter on the back  and has a round 5.0v ELAN capacitor on it is this the battery ? Last thing for now is that the brown & black  wires coming from the LED are spliced to the Brown & black on the 12 wire connector that goes to the coin optics and comparator Why ?,

Someone made some severe changes so that machine would work without a coin comparitor.
The wiring colors are all different from regular machines.
The only way this machine can be fixed is to get all the wiring replaced with
standard harnesses made specifically for your machine.
At that point, it would be simply a matter of plugging in the proper
connectors to the right locations.
Another way to fix this...and it will be much, much harder to accomplish -
is to take all the black tape off the harnesses and expose every wire going
to both sides of the machine.
The wires in question need to be traced from each end so we can tell
you if they are in the right places.
What would you like to do?
I need one clear photo of the complete inside of the door and inside of the machine.
I see a transformer right behind the drop chute on the floor.
I do not know what IGT version this machine is. Scratch Head 3
From your 2 pictures, it looks like an "S" but it very well be an "M" version.

I will take a pic of the door inside but I doubt it will help. Sounds like a wiring diagram would be helpful. As far as I know it is an old S machine. Here is a pic of the outside with top glass removed.

Here's a link to an S+ repair manual.
It's not a whole lot different from the S really.
I believe you have an old S+.
Yours does not have the bill acceptor slot on the door.
The easiest way to determine that - is a photo of the MPU board really>>>

If that game ever worked in the machine, it is an S+. The S did not support nudging.

I agree that it's an S board -- it has the three large peripheral connections in the right places.

So, if that deluxe game with nudges works in this machine, then my question to the experts is: how?
And what is that plug-in daughter board?

What are the numbers on the labels of the two main chips on
the piggyback board and can you put up a photo of the award glass?

Dupuhini has mentioned that he has a conversion board for the S to the S+. My guess is that it is similar to what is posted here.

The chip says S-Plus Program and S-Plus Reel 1-64. The glass says Move to pay line when below pay line. I tried to attach pics but would allow one

Wow! That's definitely a "Nudge" game as a 3CM. Nice!
The board however, is another question.
I'd start considering finding corresponding award payout chips and
swap the MPU board with a somewhat more modern S+ 10MHz or 16MHz MPU board.
It all depends on what SS and SP chips are needed to run that nudging game.
I do not think anyone around has ever seen a daughter board (piggyback) on an S+ MPU.
Getting repair help for that MPU you have is going to be tricky at best...
Take a look at the "Bible" and see if you can find a matching game that fits your award glass.
then post back here with your findings....
It's possible some of our award glass expert-matchers will find a match for ya!
I think they work for the "love connection" show.... Tongue Out
