That does not sound normal to me....

It sorta sounds like a cooling fan may have an obstruction, or bad bearings or something??? The first thing I would do is check any fans in there to see if they are the source of the sound. You can unplug a fan to see if that is the source of the sound.

Just a quick shot in the dark, I hope that it helps... If not you will have to localize the sound source and let us know here where it seems to be coming from.

the small mpu fan resides to the right of the main board, you can touch it if you reach your hand up behind the BV, watch for the bulb. It is likely toast, but there may be something touching it.

Wayne is right .. it is the fan connected to the right side of the MPU board frame .. about 6 inches from the back wall.

I did warn you to watch for the bulb.  Those fans always need to be replaced, I wouldn't sell a machine without a new one for the piece of mind.  It would kill me if I sold a machine and the board overheated because I was too "thrifty" to replace the main board fan.  They aren't too expensive, and I know Jim(Blue) had some

Thanks,
Wayne

I examined the dust patterns and guess that the fan blows OUT.

Wayne I should have heeded your advice -  I can't believe that the stupid bulb scalded me.   frying pan

I bought a brand new fan from Moser -   WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!

Everyone who has an I-Game should run out and buy one of these now.  I even had to put my hand up to it just to make sure it was running.  I watched out for the bulb of course  bust gut laughing

FANtastic!     Thanks for reporting back to us.  Definitely well worth the money spent, I reccomend this for all iGames that haven't been changed in a while.  The dangerous ones are the silent ones that don't work at all.  I'm sure it didn't cost much either.

Thanks,
Wayne

Munch,
If you can, upload the mouser link for the fan you got here
and others will know what to get and where to get it!

Can someone do me a huge favor-  I just woke up from a dead sleep worrying about this.   I noticed on the video that the dirt is off center from the fan which makes me think that the fan should be blowing
INSIDE.

Does anyone know the proper airflow direction on the thing.   It would make more scene to me if it were blowing air IN and the dust was caused by the hole next to the fan like the exaust.

thanks -  I don't want to fry the board over something silly like installing the fan backwards.

If there's "fins" like on a desktop PC over the CPU microprocessor, then the air needs to go into those fins.
The "fins" act like a big heatsink to draw the heat out of the chip it's stuck to.
Cool air is directed into the and between the fins to cool the heatsink.
If not, then I wouldn't turn on your machine until we get to the bottom of this!

I recently replaced mine too and it was set up to exhaust from the board enclosure.  In other words, the airflow is towards the bill validator.   I replaced mine with a fan from mouser electronics, part number 433-BP402024H, $8.00.
