WARNING: CRAZY SLOT PERSON

« on: January 25, 2010, 03:43:35 AM »

Hi,

I still like to use hoppers, but I got some issues. I have 2 machines working correctly and 4 not paying out correctly or at all.
The problem is that my coins get stuck in the hopper and it just halts. It usually gets stuck between the knife and the rotating wheel.
I don't use US coins, I use 20 cents euro coins. I added a picture where you can see the size of that one (just between a dime and a nickel).
My knifes are plastic. (might that be the issue?) The picture from the hopper is from a working one (don't know what size it is, my guess is a quarter size).
Do you guys think it's the wheel or the knife I should be looking for?
I will post another reply to show pictures of one of the non working hoppers.

Thanks,

Jeroen

Here you can see one of the other hopper wheels (in this case an s2000)
and the knife getting on top of the coins. To make it more clear, this one gives me the misery.

The shelf is too small...
you need something more of a nickel-sized shelf I think.
Also, the pins on the wheel...because the pins are so high,
they're forcing the coins down hard upon the knife.

Is the shelf the gaps between each coin?

The shelf is the raised center portion of the hopper wheel, that the coins sit on as they come to the top. It looks as if you need to increase the diameter a little so that the coins sit higher as they reach the knife - there should be practically no gap between the edge of the coins and the edge of the wheel. The amount the diameter needs to increase is twice the difference between the quarter and the E.20

I think if you dismantle the hopper, the wheel comes apart and the shelf can be replaced. It's just a flat disc with a few holes in it - if you can't buy one the right size you can have one made, perhaps by getting a metal shop to turn a mm or two off a US nickel shelf.
