Well I hate to be the dissenting voice here, but I've got one of those Cuisinarts - actually it's my second - and I like it. The first one did have its problems, I admit, including the valve in the filter basket clogging and overflowing as Kirk describes. I just removed the valve. I also had trouble with the timer board, which being a geek I was able to fix. But when I saw one on sale for $40 (woot.com) I bought it, as I'd had the other about 5 years. The new one has had a lot of things fixed on it and so far (6 months on) I've had no problems. I particularly like the stainless steel vacuum pot, which keeps coffee hot and fresh for hours with no heat under it. Frankie hates the grind noise, though. I can't run it when she's in earshot.

I didnt kill the vac pot..still have that part.
But PLEASE unplug the piece of crap when you are not using it! if you look on consumeraffairs.com you will find complaints where they have started fires, one family was burned out of their home before XMAS, same exact model I trashed...

Well....
Quite to my surprise, Cuisinart replaced the Grind & Brew FREE OF CHARGE!
They sent me an E-mail offering to have UPS pick up what was left of the "Wreckage". It was already on it's way to a local Las Vegas landfill by that time and I told them that. I provided them with pictures of what was left after I beat that thing to pieces.
They then sent me an E-Mail telling me a new unit was on the way. Sure enough! a week later a BRAND NEW/IMPROVED model arrived with a free "Gold Tone" filter.
The new one works fine, does what it should. No overflow, quieter grinder.
I have to admit, Cuisinart did stand behind their product and tried to make me happy.
For that I publically thank them for their standing behind a product!
These are the pictures sent to Cuisinart's director of marketing.....

WOW!....I also extend Kudos to Cuisinart for standing behind their product!  applause

I too have one of their Coffee Makers and am not thrilled with it.
It gets too hot...even with the adjustable temp dial. This causes
bitter tasting coffee. Other than that it's OK...just gotta get the
coffee while it's fresh.  Duh!

I'm glad to hear that Cuisinart stood behind their product. That says a lot for the company. applause applause

However, I'll stick with my Bodum French press and my Chemex. yes  Unless I'm a klutz and drop them -- which hasn't happened yet in over five years -- they will last me the rest of my life. No plugs, no heaters or machine parts to fail, and easy to keep sparkling clean. Actually, I did buy two replacement flasks for the press, thinking that I would break the beaker, but it never happened. Tongue Out coffee coffee

I have a super cheap 8 cup coffee maker from Target. Costed 8 bucks. 1.50 for 300 filters, it has never failed, aluminum pot so it will never break. Not to hard to use lol. I do have to give Keurig the shout out though if I wanted to throw 150 bucks at something like that it would be the one, the instant brewing is nice and clean.
I am also impressed that Cuisinart stepped up and made things OK. Not many companies stand by the crap they have made.

I have 2 Cuisinart coffee makers, one at home and one at my cottage, as well as a Cuisinart Grinder(one coffeemaker is the same as on 2 and a half men, no grinder) and a can opener.  I like their products and haven't had any problems with them.  I do always take out the pause and serve parts so that my mother inlaw doesn't make coffee without the part that pushes it open.

Thanks,
Wayne

Hee hee. At least the thread's not in the Tech-Talk forum! Duh! frying pan I can just picture it there, with detailed pictorials of coffeemaker repairs and which diodes to buy to replace the ones that burned up in the coffeemaker when the house caught fire, and where to get the best deal on the diodes.  Crazy Cry Laughing Cry Laughing Cry Laughing

What truly amazes me is that this thread, which now has 43 posts, has only ONE by Buzz. But then again, he doesn't really worry about how the coffee gets made, as long as there is plenty of it around. coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee  (just kidding with ya', Buzz)
