Some of the inserts I have seen in the past sell and have sold for as much as the cost of the entire topper- Duh!.  INSERTS now are at a PREMIUM --depending on title.

Your right Stroke, I just looked at the new toppers listed on ebay and the prices amazed me. There are some great titles that I would love to have but not at those prices.

Does anyone make a clear insert for the standard IGT topper?  With all the photo editing programs out there cant you just print your own graphics on transparency film, adhere that to a clear insert and basically make your own?   Im just thinkin there has to be a way.

They wont be authentic but you would have something that you could customize to your gameroom.

I would love to hear anybodys elses ideas or tips, I cant see spending $239 for a Monster Mansion topper, or $139 for Hexbreaker.

I have stated this in old posts but I would like to say it again.  You can buy all the toppers you want but the insert is what makes it all "click".  Without the insert you have a empty "hole" and some pretty lights---- Cry Laughing.  Some of the inserts I have seen in the past sell and have sold for as much as the cost of the entire topper- Duh!.  INSERTS now are at a PREMIUM --depending on title.  Not that I would hack anyone on a insert if I had duplicates -or one for myself to keep. Just my thoughts -B.

I guess while I am on this topic I should ask if anyone has any of the following inserts, or complete toppers at a reasonable price.

I would be interested in

Monster Mansion...Hexbreaker...Risque Business...Cops and Donuts...Dragons Gold..Shake your Booty...Triple Stars and Triple Lucky 7s

Thanks

*Someone* out there makes customized inserts for the standard IGT oval toppers, but I don't know who.  At Casino Royale in Las Vegas, they have promotional gimmick machines that nobody ever wins at, and on top of those machines are a couple of those toppers with custom inserts on them -- one has a picture of a person who won $5000 on one of the machines.  Obviously that insert wasn't mass-produced, but I don't know what company made that one-off insert.

Finally had time today to make a harness and put together the topper and get it tested. It works great now all I have to do is figure out which machine I want to put it on. Anyway here is a picture like I promised of the finished product. Thanks Tacman for fixing me up with the insert.

Beauitful topper!  If that is an IGT Spectrum display, you may be able to get it to scroll the colors like the video below depending on the version of the chip installed.  Check out this thread for more info http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=762.msg5308#msg5308.

It does have the SDF 100 software in it and it does scroll red, orange, and green. It turned out to be a really nice topper and a nice addition to the game room. champagne

Charles,  I am glad you are happy with it.  I will let everyone know as soon as some more are available.  I only had 4 of those left at the time-Charles and 3 other non-members got them,  The others were happy as well.  One day I should learn to keep at least one of those for myself---B. By the way excellent work charles--Almost time to show off a couple other cool things you have been building and acquired--?-Ha

Yeah... I am about to finish up on the rest of the mikohn signs I am putting together I think they are coming out nice. Just need to finish adding a few fans to the boxes and finish painting the cabinets. It's been a-lot of work and time has been limited, but I will eventually get done.

Painting the cabinets??  I have a 550 cabinet that I painted this morning. Its a plain metal cabinet so it was quick and easy. I would like to paint the rest of my slot cabinets to match but am not sure what paint if any will adhere to the laminate.  I was thinking that Krylon fusion for plastic may work but have not done a lot of research on it yet. Are your cabinets laminated and if so what are you using for paint?

thanks

I made boxes/cabinets out of wood to mount my signs in. I am not painting slot machine cabinets so I am not sure what to tell you to use. Maybe one of the other members has done this before and could be of assistance.

My pleasure, Charles! For the painting of the laminate, just scuff it up with a light grit sandpaper and then spray paint it, no problem. Flat, textured or hammered paint seems to work best. I have not tried a gloss. Also at least on 3 of my I plus cabinets all of them are painted metal with no laminate, and I like them that way.
