Hi-  I decided to create a new thread here -

I have the GQ-4X burner with this pictured adapter.

I have tried the chip in both sockets - with both jumper settings on each with no luck.
The chips should be blank so when I go to read them it does go through the process and displays all FF's.  However I can do this with no chip installed so it really doesn't tell me anything.
I'm afraid to put in my key chip because I don't want to screw it up.     What I'm going to do now is erase these chips again for about a half hour to make sure that there blank.

My question are:

1.  The socket on the left is larger than the chip but is labeled 27c400  so I'm ASSUMING that the 27c4002 goes in there.   Correct? (the top two sockets are empty with the chip in)
2.  It came with this cable.  Any idea what it's for?

27C400 is not the same as a 27C4002.  The 27C4002 is interchangeable with a 27C4096 though and the socket on the right has a label for 27C4096.  It's possible the 4002 was damaged in the left socket.  Do you have another (or 4096) that you can try?

Yes I do!  - thank you that's why I wrote ASSUME!  I can't pick a winner in a one horse race.

now that I know I'll try to erase all the chips again and try each one in the right socket!

Tilt answered pretty quickly about the 27C4096 being the same as the 27c4002, but I thought that I would "ADDRESS" your other question about the cable. That cable is for different address lines that may need to be connected on some programmers, but not on this one as far as I know since I use a different 16bit adapter. HAPPY TESTING!!!

ok good to know - my plan of action will be to do a clean erase of the chips and then try again in the adapter on the right side of the card.

I wish I didn't have to work tonight  -  so I may not get a chance to try it out.    I'll try though.  yes
