OK. My S+ came with everything but the comparitor (pigtail is there, just the comparitor itself is gone).

This is a "noob" question. I've read through, and have downloaded the Comparitor Cross Reference Chart. I know that my S+ needs the 24v comparitor, a CC-16. And in looking at the cross reference chart, I see that there is both a CC-16 made for both Bally and IGT. And in looking on Ebay and other places, I see several references that comparitors being sold are identified as Bally/IGT or IGT/Bally. Another thing I see is the .100, which I didn't find a reference to in the Cross Reference Chart. Some listings say "small denomination", some show a pic with the part number (which I can cross-reference), and some don't show a part number.

So. In a nutshell. What exactly do I want, and is it safe to assume that the IGT and Bally 24v's will interchange, even though they're a different part number?

All my other machines are older with the mechanical comparitors, and I'd rather take a moment and ask a question, and not tear something up.

Thanks.

Joker           your are right Bally 5500 and IGT S+ use the same coin comparitor 24 volt non INH and they do have the same part number. As long as the two wires going from the rake solenoid to the board are Gray you will be OK ( learned that from Bunker )  I'll make you a offer so long as you want a small coin comparitor that would be one for a nickel, quarter, or half dollar, make a donation to New Life Games, PM me your address and I will mail you one tomorrow, and I will pay the shipping.

Foster  I don't think Rev F has anything to do it. I have a bunch of them and they have all different kinds of labels on them. some no labels at all.

Coors IMO  pennies and dimes are a pain in the butt,   I think they just don't weigh enough

Thank you for the answer, it's greatly appreciated - I assumed that the Bally and IGT might use the same comparitor, I just wanted an actual answer from someone in the know (and again, the chart did show different part #'s). I learned a few years ago that a little bit of patience, and seeking the right answer before trying to do something pays off in the long run.

In other words, try to learn from other people's mistakes, and not my own so darned much!

That's also a very generous offer. It would be foolish of me to not take you up on it. So much so, that I've already completed a PayPal donation.

My machine is a quarter machine, so small denomination is exactly what I need.

Many thanks.

You're right buzz...the only way to get the smallest coins to work is to change
the damper to a lighter one or remove it altogether, but then you run
the risk of the thin coins overlapping and jamming up...
The BEST coins to use are the heaviest ones that have
the weight of at least a quarter or the larger tokens.
