I was reading a thread earlier, and in it there was comments from I think Pwrstroke about containers of floor pull slots for cheap. Had to take like 100, but they penciled out to $25-$50 per machine. I can't find the thread now that I want to look at it again, of course.

Now, I'm not rich, matter of fact, with the current economy, I'm pinching pennies. But surely there's a few people that would buy a working slot for home use if they were more readily available. And I'm sure there's a few of us that could find room for a large number of slots to tinker with in our spare time.

I guess what I'm saying is that if there was a large quantity of floor pulls, that were S-2000 or equivalent, and were somewhere here in the West, I'd be interested. Out of 100 machines, a person should be able to mix-n-match parts to get at least 80 refub'd enough for basic home play. And I'd bet that there's members around that would buy a small lot, if they were at a good price. Part out donors, and go from there. Maybe take a few and do some private party sales. We all have friends and neighbors who, when they see our machines, say "I want one!".

As a junkie, I find this very appealing. And I've got the space to work on them (well, at least 50). Plus I'm centrally located in Oregon, between Washington, California and Idaho. And, I've got an electronics engineering degree (albeit it's a "few" years old  Tongue Out), so troubleshooting and repairs should be a breeze, especially once I read up on the chips and programming and all.

What am I seeing, or not seeing in this picture? Doesn't anyone else get all giddy inside with the thought of having all these toys to tinker with?

Dang, I could have sworn that it was a thread different than that one.

Well. If there gets to be a large number of machines up for grabs somewhere, mark it with a flashing banner so I can find it.

In my mind there is a much better deal than that one on Ebay right now.  It's a pick-up only in Utah of 26 parts complete Barcrest machines with an additional 8 more parts machines.  Now I am not very good with math but I believe thats about $192 and 31 cents per Barcrest machine.  This ad has been up for more than a week an you can bet there is some negociation possibilites there as well.  If I lived closer I would have picked them up already.

List of titles included:

2 Top $ (2 no top glass)
6 Run for $ (2 no top glass one with broke plastic)
3 Hot Rod (1 no top glass)
3 Boulder Dash
1 Spell Binder
1 Cash Box
10 Pin Ball (1 missing top glass)
2 hit the top
3 Little Devil
1 Full House (Missing top glass)
2 Jewles of Crown (1 Missing top Glass)

Here is a link to the ad:

Jim,
You don't think it's worth it to rent a U-Haul and pick those up? I know it's like 2000 miles but you could realize a good profit on those machines.

Actually I have a trailer that would hold them and with the average retail on those around $800, of course it's worth it...but time does not allow me to do it at the moment.

I've got the time. Or rather, I could make the time. Just under a thousand miles for me. Leave on a Friday, and worst-case, back home Sunday. And I can get my hands on an enclosed trailer (it's a stock trailer, but it can haul slots as easy as horses). I might have to double-stack some, but I could do it, taking along a few sheets of plywood and a few blankets (remove any toppers, few sheets of plywood, and some straps to secure!). And, I'm a powerstroke guy like Pwrstroke, so I can pull all day and night. I can do a thousand miles a day without a trailer, although it's not fun.

Let's see. About $600 in fuel costs. Maybe a motel one night. $50 in flowers for the wife, for understanding.

I'd do it if he'd take quite a bit less.

I don't think he is going to go much lower than what he already has. Still a good deal though. If I was un-employed I would borrow the money and pay back the principal and have some profit to boot.

Joker   for what it's worth I can and have put 10 S+'s   in a 8 foot pick up truck bed. and close the tail gate, 20 slant tops on a car trailer, it was a load, was happy to get that one home.    It all seems fun and games BOY 50 machines, let me tell you it gets old fast. I think at one time I had 110.

Now Jay it's time to piss you off. I could care less if square 1 sells his machines are not. But this same container load of machines was offered on this very site Oct. 23 2008, look at his past posts. He is also not telling you all the BVs have been removed.  I would guess this container has been setting in salt air close to two years, makes you wonder what the chrome and metal parts will look like. Lot of other things I could add to this but won't. Did I write this to bash a member NO, this is for other members info only. If a salesman gets pissed off so be it!!

Good points about the salt water - salt, heat and humidity would definitely take a toll on the metal.

Now - if I understand correctly, an S-2000 machine will have the stereo speakers on the sides. Looking at the pic of the one barcrest, I don't see the speakers, so I'm guessing these are older models, based on the S+ electronics?

I really don't know much about the barcrests, feel free to school me.

Correct, the ones they are advertising are S-plus machines with a Barcrest game theme.

That group of  Barcrests looks like a great deal !   Sell off the  Pinballs...(maybe keep one for yourself)... and the rest of the group is all "gravy" ! !

For what it's worth... The only group of slots I've ever seen priced in the  $25. range   had been S+  Slant tops,   S+  with High Denoms with Holly Wheel hoppers, or leftovers from the "bone-yard"...

I, myself,  would like to find some  I game +  uprights in the  $500.  range.  Parts complete and correct... just off the casino floor.

Been there, done that with other items. According to the listing, they did power the machines up and they did cycle  arrow

It's still intriguing, be curious to see if they really want to get rid of them or not. Sent them a note through ebay, asking for a few more details, we'll see what they say.

Make a deal for 'em, and have a combined Vegas spring break trip with the family/slot purchase. I just KNOW my wife would LOVE that!  bust gut laughing

Any of you in Or/Wash/Id/Calif interested in a machine or three???

S+ Barcrest would be a great and fun way to start. The machines hold their value pretty well as opposed to a regular s+.  The game play on them is much funner than a regular s+.  They are and will be in the future a nice collectable slot as the numbers are way down on those production wise compared to regular generic s+ games.  When you get done with those you can graduate to s-2000 barcrest--- Tongue Out.  Even double the fun in my opinion.  Probably my favorite line of games out of them all.  Just a little harder to get now on those but it will change.  As is anything they can be aquired for a slight bit higher price.  B.  Show some pic's when you buy your load--- Tongue Out-- Please Post Pictures

I don't know how many of you remember but I had a Barcrest for sale at one time.  Let me tell you, IMHO, these machines look cool but ours was so boring that after two weeks we wouldn't even waste the electric to turn it on.  Now if there were other games besides Barcrest, I might be interested.  No more room in the house but still interested.  Hey, that helocopter for sale (craigsList) for a million bucks that holds 37 people, with bullet proof glass would make one heck of a game room.   Duh!

Only 110 Buzz?? I thought it was more.  Scratch Head I can't believe we are up to 23 now and by mid-next week we should be up one more.  That is if the truck isn't in getting repairs from Mondays bumper cars.

Super Joker
I would be interested in one of the Top Dollar S+ Barcrest located in Utah if you really are serious. I live in the same town (Saint George) where the machines are located. He wants to sell them as a lot and not break them up. I could make it easy and take one off your hands before it gets on your trailer. I asked if I could stop by his warehouse to see them but haven't heard back on that, probably because I am only interested in one.

« Reply #20 on: February 27, 2010, 01:43:19 PM »

to ad my 2-cents on this once i saw and read the thread > again << as one member said .

if they are in a container in the D.R.  besides salt air --rats--mice --in containers that love to eat electric wire insulation ?? ( could never figure that out)

that if it was profitable  or possible for the owner to retrieve them THROUGH  UNITED STATES CUSTOMS !! HE WOULD HAVE !!

so now you have a big metal box of slots bounced around on a ship or who knows cargo plane ?? I guarantee 20% of them are not as they left the U.S.A.
its called the shipping FUDGE FACTOR even withing the U.S.A. shipping you usually have 10%--15% minimum damage to a item of such ..

as the thread was posted all the owner wanted was the cash for machines !! NOTHING TO DO WITH SHIPPING !!  -
as another member posted the 8 feet long pickup bed full of uprights and trailer of slant tops .. thats a heck of alot of work --
plus I guarantee you damage again in shipment ..

your best bet is find a good local dealler tell him or her you want 25 machines -50 machines unshopped no guanatee and you will get your best price !!
but you still run into 10% --20% of junk glass or parts .. that you may have only 2---5  single games of the same game theme to rob peter to pay paul to fix

then of course shipping and unloading and storing !! electricity cost -- heat --tools -- stock parts for a shopped out machine --locks - light bulbs -wire ties -extra glass -extra eproms - extra reel strips -- a floor lift to counter top height to work on .so your back is not junk in 48 hours .. it all ads up to $$$$$$$

if anybody thinks running any business is easy and they make a killing ..is out to lunch !!! not to mention permits & doj lic. or some silly small town police officer pulls over your tractor trailer or car trailer and wants his name in paper for confiscating a gambling device !! EVEN IF THE MAIN BOARDS ARE SHIPPED SEPERATE !! so anybody who wants to start up a full time slot repair business find a friendly state !! then have 200,000.00 K to start and a group of people who know what they are doing .. the return etc >>> profit <<< is not what one may think !!!

just my opinion

I think we are talking about two different containers, one post did say seller had machines in the D.R. that were supposed to go to a casino. The casino did not get built or was delayed or something like that.  I believe that container was sold . The second container, the one "square D" has is in Utah according to dale thus the located in the West part of the post

The Barcrest lot on ebay mentioned here is located in Utah. I tried to get some information because I am in the same town. I was interested in one and have asked to visit his warehouse. He did answer my initial question that he would like to sell them as a lot. But I am still waiting for an answer to my followup.
