You need a safe ram clear chip depending on the game you have installed

You might be able to just change the hopper limit on the fly, even if you currently have credits on the machine.

Open the door and turn the jackpot key. Select "Credit/Hopper Limits" under the configuration column (third from the left).
The second selection from the top should be "Hopper Limit". Make sure that this limit is enabled by using the button on the left. Then select the amount on the right and use the keypad to enter a low value that suits you. Press OK on the keypad to save the change. You should now see the value that you selected in the textbox next to the red "Enabled" button.

Once you've changed the hopper limit, press the "prev" button in the lower right corner to bring you back to the main menu. Then re-select the hopper limits from the config menu and see if your change is still there. If it is, then it took the change (even though you had credits on the machine) and you're all set.

Close the door and cash out. As long as the machine has more credits/money than the value you set in the hopper limit, the machine will lock up for an attendant pay and start playing "We're in the Money".

I don't know if this will work on all Mains, but I just tried it successfully with my 24 mains.
